My recent donation went to Atlantic Coast regional center. This just in. You get a little thing telling you how you helped. So, got to give blood. On to the weather. Okay. We have the Weather Center and i was going to forget it if i didnt say it then. Weve got cloud cover in place. There are some areas that have some dense fog again this morning and ill talk more about that in a moment. As we take a look at temperatures though man, they are nice again this morning. 42 degrees a little cooler in allentown but 58 degrees in reading, 60 degrees in trenton, 52 in philadelphia. 50 degrees in wilmington. 56 in millville right now and at this early hour in dover, 62. These are numbers that we generally have for you well into the spring but youre getting them in february today. All right, so what about the visibility . Its not as widespread a problem as it was yesterday but its still a problem. Weve got a half mile visibility in wilmington and millville a third of a mile in Atlantic City at the airport down to wildwood and also out in lancaster and up in allentown in the poconos. In these areas in particular are you liable to run into some dense fog if youre driving too fast it will be hard to see pedestrians, et cetera, so slow it down. Temperatures today really going to zoom again. 58 degrees by 7 oclock. By noon, 69 degrees. And by 3 oclock, a record high of 76. The old record is 72 and philadelphias not going to be the only record that falls today, a lot will. Now, later on in the evening theres a chance of some sprinkles and showers. Ill talk about that and show that you on future tracker6 and then of course a big cooler damp change for tomorrow but karen, another nice one ahead today. All right, dave, so once again were dealing with some fog. Scanning for it in our cameras we found a bit of it here in morrisville bucks county. This is route one at pennsylvania avenue so a bit of fog here. Southbound heading towards langhorne moving okay. On the big picture, were seeing 4 miles an hour right now with this construction going on. We want to watch for this on the schuylkill expressway. Theyre in the process of picking it up but this is the schuylkill at south street. Construction had been blocking the right lane. In the process of clearing out and as it does, it often jams up so thats why were seeing that 4 miles an hour on the schuylkill. This is westbound, the schuylkill at south street and crews are going to do it again tonight at 9 oclock. Now, eastbound last night didnt have any construction. It was westbound thats causing the jam and as theyre clearing it out were seeing traffic just extra slow there. In northern delaware an accident i95 southbound at harvey road. One of the areas where we really were seeing a lot of fog, too. Fog isnt bad this morning on the ben franklin bridge. Roads are a little damp here. Thats your westbound traffic coming into the city moving okay but bring those speeds down a little with the fog, matt. Good idea. Thank you, karen. Fighting for their safety. Students who survived the High School Shooting in parkland florida one week ago today are taking their fight to both state lawmakers and national lawmakers. President trump is hosting a listening session today with students and teachers from Marjory Stoneman douglas high school. This comes as hundreds of other students are preparing to head to floridas State Capitol in tallahassee where they will meet with state lawmakers later today. They are rallying for tougher gun laws and school safety. Hours before they arrived, florida lawmakers voted down an Assault Rifle bill that would have also banned the purchases of large capacity magazines statewide. The students say they are not backing down. Were going to continue to fighting. The way i like to see us is were kind of like that thorn that you have in your foot that you cant take out. Were going to be that thorn until the changes that we want are implemented or at least one step. Many of the students boarded buses for tallahassee after attending funerals for the victims. The schools Athletic DirectorChristopher Hixon will be laid to rest in south florida today. Hixon was an easton, Northampton County native. The fight over gun control is also taking center stage closer to home. Pennsylvania state senator daylin leach says he plans to introduce legislation that would allow courts to temporarily take away a persons gun if they show warning signs of violence. Leach says under the bill people would be able to petition a judge but would have to show reasonable belief that the person under concern is a danger to the community. A church in the poconos, meanwhile, will still host a blessing of guns ceremony planned for next week. The church, which is an off shoot of the Unification Church is encouraging couples to bring their unloaded ar15 rifles with them to a commitment ceremony. A Philadelphia High School basketball player was benched by a referee for wearing her hijab the head covering worn by some muslim women. The ref said the player did not have the proper paperwork filed. Now the School District is calling for the rules to be changed and its opening up a civil rights debate. Jeanette reyes is live with the full story. Good morning, jeanette. Reporter good morning, tam. This varsity player can now play but the School District and she also says that this is really about the rule and it being unfair. The referee had came over and told me that i couldnt play because i didnt have the papers for me to wear my hijab. I was upset and embarrassed. Reporter Nasihah Thompson King has been playing with her hijab since the sixth grade but it wasnt until this weekend that the mastery charter shoemaker student was banned for not taking off her religious headdress before the game. According to the states athletic association, piaa anything worn on the head for medical or religious purposes must be approved. In fact, her coach was warned of the waiver two days before the game. The School Officials admit the rule was appropriately enforced and there was a breakdown in communication. However, thompsonking and the district say the rule itself is unfair. Could the waiver have been filled out . Sure. Is it an, at a step that our students of different faiths have to do if theyre wearing religious garments . Yes and i dont think thats fair. Reporter the district is calling for a religious exemption as the hijab doesnt alter the sport or provide a competitive advantage. I absolutely believe that that rule needs to be abolished not just for my daughter but for anybody who is choosing to honor their religion. Reporter and thompsonking will be back on the court this afternoon at 3 oclock for a game with her hijab. In the meantime the piaa says they have no plans of changing their rules. Reporting live in spring garden, Jeanette Reyes channel6 action news. Thank you, jeanette. Dave murphy is tracking those visibilities. Yeah, we got fog out there in parts of the region and like yesterday in some areas its kind of thick. Double scan shows you that we are dry except if you are driving through fog. Youll get some drizzle on the windshield and those windshield wipers will be doing that intermittent thing. As we take a look outside, we have sky6 and theres penns landing, the ben franklin bridge. Obviously here in center city the fog not nearly as bad as it was yesterday. It was kind of hard to see the bridge and even i95 from the height of our camera. So, things are better here but some of the outlying suburbs, lehigh valley, berks county in particular and then down through wilmington an good passion of south jersey thick fog again this morning. 52 degrees is your current temperature. Its mild. Wow. Winds out of the southwest not all that strong. 3 miles per hour. Thats one of the reason weve got that fog lingering in some spots and forming in the first place. Still cool up in allentown, 42. 58 in reading. 52 in philadelphia. 50 in wilmington. 60 degrees in trenton right now. And 56 in millville. There are some clouds out there. You can see em. Well wind up after the fog breaks up, say, 9, 10 oclock, well start to see that sun build back in just like we did yesterday and i think it will be a clouds and sun mix for most of you for most of the day but like yesterday the big story is where temperatures are going. Were going for a high of 76 degrees. I expect to climb up into the low 60s as soon as 10 oclock. 69 by noon and then theres the high right around throw clock. Still 70 by around 3 oclock. Still 70 by 6 oclock. Thats philadelphia. I think a lot of records across the region are going to fall. As you take a look at high temperatures ive placed an asterisk next to all the forecast highs that are afternoon records today and its almost everywhere. Record high forecast in trenton at 72, 72 in allentown, 73 in reading, 74 in wilmington. Theres the 76 in philadelphia. 74 at the a. C. Airport. 73 in dover. Couple of spots are also getting into the 70s and arent going to set new records in all likelihood but its going to be pretty toasty everywhere away from the shore. Cape may 60 degrees. Future tracker6 shows you theres a couple sprinkles around this afternoon and then later tonight weve got some showers that will pop down through the region. Most of the day is dry. And then tomorrow a big change. A high of just 49 degrees, cloudy, dreary with rain at times so enjoy today if you are a warm weather lover. 76 is todays record high. Tomorrow just 49 with some occasional rain here and there. And periods of rain on friday. This isnt a heavy driving rain for the most part but it is kind of cool and damp obviously. Fridays high 46. On saturday, milder, 59. There will be some rain, the steadiest arriving in the afternoon and evening. And then some of that rain tapers into sunday morning. I do think theres a decent chance we dry out on sunday afternoon with a high of 61. And then back into the 50s on monday and tuesday. If the worst you can do is send us back into the 50s i think were going to be okay. Pretty nice stretch. Yes. 5 11.
