Several members of the Philadelphia Fire Department were honored for taking the next step in their careers. The department held its promotion and awards ceremony today. The honors were handed out at the Performing Arts Center on temples campus. More than two dozen members were elevated in rank led today of course by commissioner adam thiel. Three firefighters were posthumously promoted including lieutenant kenneth green and gabriel lee. Matthew letourneau was promoted from lieutenant to captain. He was killed while battling a row home in north philadelphia. Police in Fayette County thwarted what turned out to be a School Shooting planned for today. It was todays harrowing discovery. A 14yearold boys bedroom stocked with weapons from that a semi automatic to a shotgun, a revolver machetes even throwing knives all found in this teenaged boys room after he allegedly threatened to kill four of his fellow students at Uniontown Area High School saying he simply didnt like them. City and state police went to the boys home in henry Clay Township last night after they got a report from another student who says he overheard this threat on the school bus and even went so far as to record part of it. He indicated it would be extremely easy to sneak a gun into the school in his backpack. And he also indicated that he could use a sniper rifle from a distance or use a shotgun for mass casualties. Very scary discovery. Authorities have not publically identified the suspect here. He was arrested and taken to a juvenile Detention Center hes been charged with terroristic threats possession of a firearm by a minor and attempting to cause a catastrophe. Well, inversion basically we have to look at the atmosphere in many different layers not only at the surface but up to about 5,000 feet for temperatures and whats happening is our profile shows much colder air from 2000 feet below. Above that, thats where you can see those temperatures are warming as that curve goes to the higher temperatures, so warm air, lighter than cold air, so its trapped right above us and until this inversion breaks and we can get this line to go more straight, thats when well warm and thats going to happen as we get into the day tomorrow. So, there you go, weather 101. Cold air dense and heavy. In other news today, fumes from a generator sent several students and teachers from a bustleton school to the hospital today. Chopper6 hd was over lohse elementary on the 500 block of tomlinson road. Officials say strong fumes from a generator being used on the roof got into the school just before noon. A number of students and teachers soon started to feel sick. And that led to an evacuation. All were taken to the hospital for observation. One of bill cosbys lawyers now wants to be taken off the comedians case before his upcoming Sexual Assault retrial. A decent amount of visibility and it almost looks a little hazy and due to the colder air being trapped at the surface its kind of collecting a little bit of the pollution so to speak, so well mix that out as we get into the weekend. In fact, saturday the winds whip up and that helps to break down the cold, 57 degrees. Winds could be 30 to 40 miles an hour with that sun tomorrow. And then on sunday, a lot of clouds, a wet start but a drier finish to the day on sunday from the northwest to the south and east with temperatures in the middle 50s.
