Lets take a look at storm tracker6 live double scan and with double scan its a great way to see exactly whats happening in your region. So, were looking right now and seeing some of that heavier rain in the Lehigh Valley. Lesser so at the moment through the city. So, as we look at this, were seeing some pockets of yellow on some of the busy traveled roads in reading, 422 near pottstown as well. Then we get a little closer to the city itself and were seeing some drier air punch its way in. Chadds ford not raining at the moment. Malvern youre okay at the moment. In the city as well. Heres a wider look at that satellite and radar. We saw how we had a couple breaks in the academics in the city and south jersey. Look at this rain thats pulling up to the south. Through washington, d. C. Theyre getting hammered. Thats almost at our doorstep. Periods of rain through the day. Some of it pretty heavy. Weve already seen a couple thunderstorms. We could see a couple more. Heres future tracker6 kind of timing out some of this rain. By 9 30 in the morning, filling in once again through much of the area, so well be in and out of these breaks of rain today. By lunchtime, youre getting some of the final back edge of the rain as that cold front tries to swing through. Seeing it in the city and south jersey. And then we watch it pull off the coast. This is at 2 oclock in the afternoon. Id say between 1 oclock two, clock in the afternoon we finally dry out in the city but until then youre dealing with these periods of rain back and forth today and we could see a few thunderstorms. Be careful with any one of these storms damaging wind gusts are possible up to 40 miles an hour or so. It ends early this afternoon and the weather really changes for you then. Heres your accuweather forecast. Today early high of 62. When the rain is coming down its mild. By 8 00 a. M. , 56. At 10 00 a. M. Its 58. At lunchtime its 60. It is. Still decorated. Im okay with the fact that its rain and not snow. But the rain still gives us some issues on the roadways. Those wet roads, theres some ponding, theres some puddling in some cases minor flooding this morning and ardmore is one of those areas thats being impacted by these Regional Rail issues that were seeing on the Paoli ThorndaleRegional Rail line because of course theres a big stop right there in ardmore. If youre coming out of center city this morning, youre not going to be able to get a train out to ardmore. Outbound service completely suspended on the Paoli Thorndale line. Its all because of damaged amtrak wires and inbound which is the way most of you go in the morning, theres no service at all between thorndale and malvern and just limited service between malvern and center city, only some of the trains are running. So bottom line is dont count on being able to use the Paoli Thorndale line this morning or at least if youre going to try, expect a train to be very late. If you live on the main line and you can get to the norristown high speedline to one of those stops i think thats going to be a better bet for you. Over on the schuylkill expressway we had some stopped traffic because of a crash on the westbound side approaching belmont. Crash is now finally gone but check out the travel time. 35 minutes already, thats more than a 20 minute delay on the westbound side of the schuylkill because of that earlier accident. Not when youre driving through them. Lets take a look right now at satellite and radar and we can see how some heavy rain has been pushing through at times. We still have a lot more yet to come through the region. Its a you look to the south and west, you can see that is still pulling up right now. So, the rain today is going to take the first half of the day to clear. Lets start you right now with storm tracker6 live double scan. The best way to see exactly whats happening in your area here. Lets show you what it looks like. We still have that steady rain through allentown, through reading. It continues on 422 near pottstown. Youre in and out of it in quakertown. Its periods of rain. At the moment were dry in norristown, malvern in the city itself but the roads are already wet cause you had the first batch of rain move through and now we can see that second round thats spilling in towards wilmington going to travel up 95 and hit us again so well have periods of rain. We already had a couple thunderstorms. We could have a few more. Lets talk about the temperatures. The other side of the story is how mild it is. 57 degrees right now in dover, delaware. By 7 oclock 51 degrees, mostly cloudy skies. We could see some damaging winds with any one of these storms that moves through. Ill talk more about that in the sevenday forecast in just a minute, matt. Could cause some wire damage i would imagine later on and we had that this morning. Some wires that were damaged along Amtrak Service and the Paoli ThorndaleRegional Rail line on septa was impacted because septa and amtrak share tracks there along the Paoli Thorndale line but the better news coming out of septa at the 6 30 half hour is that they have repaired those wires and service has been restored on the Paoli ThorndaleRegional Rail line, trains are just starting to run again. So that means theyre not going to all be on time. I would still expect residual delays but service is in the process of being restored right now to Paoli ThorndaleRegional Rail lines. Thats good news and otherwise the trains are on time so far this morning. But the roads are slippery with the wet conditions. So weve seen some accidents already, a serious one in norristown is still blocking arch at airy. Emergency crews are on the scene there. Coming in on 422 eastbound just 27 Miles Per Hour right now and its a whole lot less than that on the westbound side of the schuylkill. Still jammed from approaching the boulevard through this point at city avenue. A lot of brake lights on out to belmont. At least our westbound accident there is gone but still delays spill back here onto the southbound side of the boulevard and theres a crash on the eastbound schuylkill at belmont. Luckily that one is not such a big deal and its off to the side. Still have that Fire Department activity in West Philadelphia at hazel and 58th. Matt i know you have more details on whats going on there. We have them right here. Thank you, matt. It is our breaking news story. Its a quick moving fire that damaged two row homes in West Philadelphia. That scene matt mentioned red cross is now helping two families who are out of their homes. Crews spent about a half hour getting it under control with sparks flying from some electrical wires there. No one was hurt, though. The red paws was called in to help with injured pets and they rescued two cats and one dog. Fire officials are still trying to figure out what sparked the fire. Also breaking a 19yearold has died after a shooting in the citys olney section. Investigators heard the gunfire erupt around broad street and olney avenue at 12 30 this morning. We have an update on another breaking story weve been following closely this morning. A powerful earthquake in the Pacific Ocean near the alaskan coastline has prompted tsunami watches and warnings up and down the u. S. West coast. The quake measuring 7. 9 magnitude hit 175 miles south of Kodiak Island alaska. It was downgraded from an 8. 2 magnitude but still very strong. Alaska and British Columbia are under a tsunami warning right now. Alaskans were told to move away from the coastline. Attention. A tsunami warning has been issued for this area. That is what people heard along the alaskan coastline as the tsunami warning went into effect. While there are no reports of any damage in alaska, officials warn it is way too early to be certain of the quakes impact. Washington state, oregon, california and hawaii are under a tsunami watch. Pretty frightening stuff. It certainly is. They had a warning for awhile there for a tsunami in hawaii and they canceled that but certainly concerns about that right now. If you can imagine waking up to hearing that. For us were waking up to hearing the rain and youre seeing it right now on sky6 looking live right now and you can see people traveling around okay but the roads are wet. We had some heavy rain that has already moved its way through. Lets show you what it looks like on storm tracker6 live double scan. And we can see much of the area still blanketed with this heavy rain. Its in allentown, its in reading. Were seeing a couple of dry air slots punch its way in but you see how in wilmington, in dover, the heavy rain picked up again. Were going to see periods of rain. This isnt really wrapping up until we get to 1 oclock, 2 oclock in the afternoon so really dealing with that right now. Want to go back to that image. To take a closer look. On 422 in reading, still seeing that rain, in spots pottstown. Some of the heavier cells heading towards allentown. As we look in philadelphia and south its dry right now in coatesville, no the not in pottstown. But you see the rain traveling up i95 with the heavy cell in wilmington which will continue to move toward the city. Periods of rain moving through. Now ill show you the other side of the story and thats the temperatures. 54 degrees in philadelphia. Felt like spring yesterday. Ditto today. 57 degrees in dover. 53 in a. C. Low 40s in the Lehigh Valley. Unseasonably mild. Satellite and radar showing its in the southerly flow. Weve got the rain thats pulling up. When the actual cold front swings through well feel a change in the temperatures but for now were in the mild sector of it. So, were getting the heavy rain, periods of it. It will be moving through. Not wrapping up until the early afternoon hours. 10 oclock future tracker6 showing some of the ends of the last cells starting to move through the Lehigh Valley. So, heres what we can expect. Periods of rain. We already saw a few thunderstorms this morning. We could see a few more later today. Here or there, one or two. Damaging winds are possible with this storm system especially in philadelphia and areas south. Ending early this afternoon. So, were concerned about the ponding and puddling on the roads, the heavy rain moving through at times and those potentially damaging winds. Thats why we have that accuweather alert today. 62 for an early high. Temperatures will fall this afternoon. At 8 00 a. M. , the mid 50s. Upper 50 at 10. Raining at times.
