The inferno nearly destroyed the building and quickly spread to others. Forcing 140 seniors to evacuate into the bitter cold, some in wheelchairs and beds wrapped up in blankets. One woman saw the plumes of smoke from her homeless than a mile away from the assisted living community. I looked out the window. It looked like a sunset and thats how big the blaze was going at that point and i knew something was going on with the helicopters and fire trucks and ambulances. Police cars everywhere. More than 20 residents have been rushed to local hospitals. Those who were not hurt are being reunited with loved ones at a nearby shelter. The red cross is also responding to help those displaced. Overnight we heard 20 people were injured. They just held a press briefing with officials from west chester borough. Firefighters were blasting water on it from every which direction, the fire is under control. Its a breaking a frantic rush to pull seniors from a burning building in Chester County. At least 20 people were injured by the fire at the Barclary Friends Senior Living Community. The flames broke out before 11 00 p. M. They quickly engulfed the facility. Residents evacuated. Neighbors filled the streets to help the seniors get water and warm blankets and anything they could do to help them out. Here is video now first flames and thinks close to the height of the video and it is still windy out but not as windy as last night when this flame was really getting pushed around by these gusts and so the call comes in at 10 46 at nine is 11 call that is there smoke in the building and Fire Fighters say they immediately know that is there heavy fire every where and they called for backups. It quickly to five alarms and they tell us they immediately had to make a lot of rescues and so here is now video number two and you can see seniors that they got out of that building and put them just on the street, close by, but out of harms way at first. Then they need head for these people in terms of the blankets anything to keep them warm, safe from the elements.
