In other news tonight its been the target of intense scrutiny protests and vandalism over the past few months. After much debate and public outcry its been announced that the frank rizzo statue is moving from the place it has stood for more than three decades. And now to the citys decision to relocate that statue from its current spot in front of the Municipal Services building. For some philadelphians the statue of the mayor represents a mayor of division and discrimination and those beliefs led to many protests demanding the statue be removed. Action News ReporterTrish Hartman live in center city tonight. Trish, you have reaction to the news. Reporter thats right, rick. After asking for the publics input the city says it received almost 4,000 submissions and announced today that the rizzo statue will be moved from Thomas Paine Plaza. The frank rizzo statue in front of the Municipal Services building will soon have a new home. Rizzo was a bully. You know. Thats the way i feel about it. Im not italian, im a black american. Reporter in a statement, managing director for the city said earlier this year we initiated a call for ideas on the future of the rizzo statue. We carefully reviewed and considered everyones viewpoints and we have come to the decision that the rizzo statue will be moved to a different location. Frank rizzo rose up through the ranks of the Philadelphia Police department and served as the citys mayor from 1972 to 1980. While he is known for decades of service to the city, many associate him with racism and minority oppression. Calls for the statues removal escalated this summer after a deadly White Nationalist rally in charlottesville. The rizzo statue was egged and a man was arrested after the statue was spray painted with the words black power. City Council Member helen gym. Her statement but not everyone is happy about the move. Dorothy whelan told us frank rizzo was her daughters godfather. Its very sad because he did a lot for our city and its a shame that if youre going to remove him, you should put him in a good location. Reporter now, that new location is still to be determined. City Officials Say it will take at least six months to submit a proposal to the art commission. That proposal will include a time line for the move and a new location. Well, the republican tax plan is drawing praise and criticism from both sides of the aisle tonight including lawmakers in our area. Action news sat down with delaware senator chris coons and pennsylvania senator pat toomey. Senator coons says while ambitious, the tax plan misses the mark. Senator toomey believes everyone will benefit. This package as of now should cost 1. 5 trillion over 10 years. Thats a lot more money to borrow from the chinese and what is in there for the middle class increase in child credits or child deductions increase in some of the individual deductions, doesnt make up for the fact that the vast majority of that 1. 5 trillion is going to the biggest corporations and the wealthiest individuals. Everybody is going to have a savings here. This has been designed that way from the beginning. That was always the intention and thats going to be the results but moreover, the relative burden of the tax load is going to continue to be spread roughly as it is now. Both senators do agree that they want this to be a bipartisan effort. Meteorologist cecily tynan with the weekend outlook. Hey, guys, temperatures definitely dropping over the weekend. Lots of clouds out there. Head over to the Action News Weather Center and live on sky6 taking a look at the Commodore Barry bridge and these clouds are associated with a cold front thats moving through as we speak. And behind that front, we have a reality check. After two days in the 70s, tomorrow the high only 59 degrees. Thats close to where we should be for this time of the year. The average high for tomorrow is 60. Well see a mixture of clouds and sunshine and then saturday night a warm front starts pushing in. What this will do is bring us rain late saturday night into sunday morning and sunday lots of clouds, not quite as cool, 65 degrees. A damp start with a little bit of some drizzle, even holding into the afternoon. Can guarantee though this weekend will be one hour longer than any other weekend this year. And thats because we turn our clocks back late saturday night when you go to bed, officially Daylight Saving time ends on sunday morning at 2 oclock. Fall back one hour and the sun will set sunday evening at 4 53. So, reality check there. Right now temperatures still very mild. Philadelphia 72. The same in trenton. Atlantic city airport 75. Cape may 74. Allentown and reading beginning to cool off, 69 degrees. And satellite and radar showing the system a lot of cloud cover with it but very limited in moisture. Had a few scattered sprinkles here or there so not much moisture but it will bring us a wind shift tomorrow and what that will do is cool us off dramatically. Even tonight if youre heading to friday night football games, take a jacket because once that front clears, the skies will begin to clear out as far as clouds and the winds really pick up. Winds increasing out of the north 10 to 20 Miles Per Hour so that kickoff temperature 65 but will be down into the 50s for the Fourth Quarter and with that wind, it will feel even cooler. So, the day planner for your saturday mix of clouds and sunshine, seasonably cool. We start off at 45 degrees at 7 oclock. By 11 oclock, 52 and temperatures holding in the upper 50s as we head through the afternoon. So future tracker showing that warm front late saturday around 11 oclock well see a few showers breaking out but then as we head into sunday morning, some more showers lingering along the coast at 6 oclock and even into the afternoon when the eagles are playing could get a little bit of drizzle. Not going to be nearly as wet as last sunday and good a amount of cloud cover. The five day at 5 00 tomorrow a mix of clouds and sunshine 55 degrees the high. We fall back to eastern standard time. By sunday morning. Then sunday mostly cloudy, a touch of drizzle, 65 degrees. Behind that warm front were back in the 70s on monday, 72 degrees but a strong cold front brings us some afternoon showers for election day 58 degrees. Wednesday 53. It gets even cooler by friday. The coolest air mass so far this season. Adam will talk about that in the sevenday forecast, guys. Thank you. Sounds good. Thanks cecily. Much more still ahead. Theyll take on the Denver Broncos at the linc. And heres Jeff Skversky and ron jaworski with this weeks birds break down. Thanks guys. Were here with the one and only ron jaworski talking eagles football. You have to love the way carson wentz is playing coming off the best month in eagles history, 14 touchdowns in october. Its hard to believe a second year quarterback with one year and eight games under his belt is playing at the level of carson wentz. He looks like awhilely old veteran right now. The Denver Broncos are coming for carson wentz. They have the number one defense in the league. This is a tough matchup for the eagles front. It really is. When you watch the Denver Broncos they like to bring blitz pressure. Their foundation, their bedrock is getting after the quarterback. And this is an area where the eagles have been a little schizophrenic. Carson wentzs eight touchdown passes when hes blitzed also sacked 12 times. Let me show you a couple of those times. This is an where the eagles must clean something up. The redskins brought pressure right up the middle. They did not want to give carson wentz a nice comfortable cradle to throw from. As we roll this tape, you will see this pocket collapse on carson wentz. One linebacker comes, one linebacker spies, they crush the pocket, Ryan Kerrigan gets the sac. You want to play quarterback. Look at this. Theyre in your face quickly. The ball has to come out. Thats an area carson wentz has to improve the temple with getting the ball out. The San Francisco 49ers what they did last week, blitz pressure on carson wentz. One, two, three, four down line men, a linebacker, number five, and another linebacker, six rushers after carson wentz. Now hes going to run the play action to legarrette blunt in the backup. What blunt has to do is get quickly to the linebacker blitz and get a body on a body. He did not. Carson wentz gets pushed out of the pocket and i hate this hit. This is what worries me. When the quarterbacks shoulder gets driven into the ground his head smashed on the ground this is where injuries happen. When you see the quarterback get hit as much as carson wentz gets hit, i concern myself the injury factor. How much more vulnerable is carson because he extends plays with his legs. He gets out of the pocket and thats made him a Great Quarterback in this league yet hes taken those hits. Jeff, i agree with you. What we love about carson wentz is the ability to extend the play, make plays outside of structure. Hes been phenomenal with that but i always worry about the hits. The cumulative effect of a quarterback getting hit knocks you out of games. Obviously lane johnson the right tackle said it felt like a loss last week. Yeah, thats how badly the offensive line played. Im going to ask you for your prediction this week against the Denver Broncos. Who do you like in this game. Tough hard fought game but i like the eagles 2116. There you go. Philadelphia eagles were going to win this game according to jaws. For ron jaworski im Jeff Skversky. Back to the news desk. [laughter] as we take a look at the action cam, right along the delaware there, you can see the moshulu in the background with part of the center city skyline. Filtered sun during the today but definitely a lot cloudier than yesterday but we did hold onto that warmth. As we take a look at the weather sent we have that eagles game on sunday in town again and the temperatures arent going to be as warm as they were today or wont be as dry as it was today but still not horrible. Were not going to have that soaking rain like we had a week ago on sunday so mostly cloudy for the kickoff at 1 00 p. M. , 64 degrees. And during the game, there may be some mist or drizzle at times, so may want to bring a poncho or some light rain gear in case. Temperatures arent going to be chilly, its not a cold, cold rain. 64 to 65 degrees which is technically about 5 degrees above normal for this time of year. As we look at the present numbers, were starting to see that change arrive in those northwestern suburbs. We did hit 73 philadelphia, down to 72 right now. 75 millville. 74 in cape may. But youre starting to see some 60s popping up. Lancaster reading, allentown and in fact, now at 50 degrees in mount pocono as a cold front is starting to push through. In fact, the front is not going to bring any rain here this evening. Really its just a wind shift from the southwest, that warm direction today to more of a north northeasterly direction as we get into the weekend. So youre going to notice those winds kick up and we start to feel those winds kick up and that cooler air coming in. Youll know that the front has passed through your neighborhood. So, the sky will gradually clear as that front sinks to the south and turning much cooler, in fact chilly by the morning in those northwestern suburbs. 46 for the city and theres that north wind up to around 10 to 20 miles an hour. High pressure comes in behind it over new england on saturday, a fall chill at 59 degrees. A dry day. Sun giving way to clouds in the afternoon. Those clouds building because of a warm front to the north and west. So its a really good weekend at least for tomorrow to get out if you want to check some of the foliage because we are peaking in the heart of the Delaware Valley right up to the lehigh valley, it is past peak in the poconos so dont head up there if you want to check out some of the foliage stay local and moderate fall foliage for south jersey as well as delaware, probably another half a week to a week to peep there. Its this reminder. Saturday night again turn those clocks back an hour before you head to bed. Also, check the Smoke Detector batteries as we end Daylight Saving time and in fact on saturday night also well be watching some of the showers increase around 11 oclock. About a 10 to a quarter of an inch so not a lot of rain expected. You see some of those spitting showers on sunday morning. Sunday afternoon at 3 oclock again as that game is continuing and nearing the end, there still could be some of those showers or patchy drizzle around. In fact, another reminder on sunday the sun sets at 4 4 54 p. M. Yeah. Anyway, the exclusive accuweather 7day forecast, 59 as those clouds build here tomorrow. A damp start, cloudy and with it being very cloudy and a little bit wet at times sunday, it may seem like the sun is setting by 4 30 because there will be no sun, 65 degrees and then warm with some afternoon showers developing with the next front on monday, 72. Behind that front we go back to the 50 and we stay in the 50s. In fact, low 50s by friday of next week and that system that looked to bring rain here wednesday, sinks to the south so its dry despite it is cool for next week. Okay. Sounds great. Thank you, sir. Thank you. Keep up with the changes yourself any time throughout the weekend right here on your phone or tablet including realtime views from storm tracker6.
