That was the saving grace because the waters are so warm in the gulf of mexico, the caribbean, the tropical waters of the atlantic, anytime you have a tropical system like this moving over the warm waters you get an explosion in development. But the fact that the storm was moving quickly that prevented that from happening. Mobile, alabama, this area, the storm traveled east of new or lorenas which put the worst of the storm surge in the mobile alabama and pensacola, florida and western portions of the panhandle in florida.
