Police say the gunman drove by around 11 00 last night and fired out the car window, hitting those five people, injuries included shots to the leg, wrist, torso and one person has a more serious injury with a gunshot wound to the neck. And at this time, the gunman is still on the loose, as police are still in there, again, collecting evidence. Its unclear from my sources, darlene, at this point, if there was a second person in that car. Of course, well continue to follow the story for you and give you updates as we get them. Darlene. All of these infections happened in the south bronx, cooling towers in five locations have tested positive. S there there was an emergency meeting last night at the bronx museum of art. Community leaders said all of those towers, at this point, have been cleaned. The reason we sampled those towers is because those are the ones that are closest to where people are being sick. Legionnaires disease is a type of pneumonia that occurs when people breathe in water droplets that are infected with the legionella back tear. The Health Department says they will continue to test but you should know that home air conditioners are not affected. Water towers are not affected. Water supplies in new york city, affected either. We just spoke to some of the workers who were here at the time when shots rang out, and they shot like so many here, they were fireworks. However, it happened at the end of a hiphop concert is that was sold out. And this morning, we can tell you that two people were critically injured as a result of this. Now Pnc Bank Arts Center is right by the state police barracks. They quickly made the scene. Went into a wooded area on the hunt for a lone gunman they say opened fire around 11 15 last night. The two people that were shot were reportedly flown by medevac to jersey shore hospital. They are listed in critical condition. The video of the investigation that wrapped up a short time ago, a large perimeter wrapped off by crime tape. And they just wrapped this up and no word on what if anything was found. A lot of shootings from the weekend and another one happened, halfway down the block, a short time ago, we saw a detective out there with a flash light presumably looking for some evidence. That area is also where we saw a victim hobbling into the house with bandages on her shin. She didnt want to talk to us about what happened. But police say a car headed southbound here on dwight street, around 11 00 last night, that gunman firing out the window of the car. And hitting five people. Seriously injuring one person who was hit in the necec now, sources tell me that they just updated me, rather, there were two people in that car. Only one gunman, though. And as you can see, this is a very residential neighborhood. And one person actually mistook the gunshots for fireworks. I suspected it was just firecrackers which we hear a lot around here. Then i saw ambulances coming down and heard sirens and so i put my head out. Right then, there were a lot of cop cars showing up. Reporter and those cop cars still here on the scene, michael. Just mentioned how people are aggravated, well, advocates yesterday were talking about how they needed to end the gun violence. Even starting a campaign. Two swimmers, a mother and young girl, thath had to be rescued around 6 30 last knew. They got caught up in a rip current. The young girl was unconscious at the time. The girl was unconscious. The guy ran in to get her, brought her up to me. And brought her up to the beach ems was here. Over the weekend, two dozen swimmers had to be rescued from the waters off of long beach, and rockaways. 23yearold keslon carlos is a victim of the rip current. And two teenagers are now recovering in the hospital. The kids hit the boat, they were tubing and now theyre unconscious. Authorities say the 13yearold girls slammed into the side of a designfoot yacht while tubing at a fairfield beach. We learned that one the girls broke her pelvis. But this one is moving towards Shelter Island. And moving northeastward very quickly at 40 to 45 miles an hour. To the west, were starting to see lighter showers. A little more rain heading back in. Youll need the umbrella in the southern half of new jersey. And the slighter heavy shower right there. Watch this in portions of northwest ocean county. Southwest, in the next 15 or 20 minutes. Could be downpours there, too. That looks like it will be the last of it, other than an isolated storm possible this afternoon. So things will get better from late morning on to the afternoon. Were at 70 in the park. 70 in brooklyn. A lot of 60s. Upper 60s through the northern half of new jersey. And hudson valley, same scenario, upper 60s and low 60s across long island. Heading over to truck route i9, two lanes there shut down. And the bqe, i do have an update. And westbound, the truck has been out there for a while. Weve seen sporadic closures and delays continuing to build. Bqe the spot to avoid. And an accident blocking a lane out there, suffolk count and approaching nassau, long island expressway westbound just before exit 49, theres an accident out there that blocks a line. The scientist who said traces of bubonic plague and anthrax were found in new york citys subways last february, theyre backing away from the results of their study. We know from authorities that they fired five shots that hit five people. Houses. Earlier this morning, we saw one victim with wounds to her had shin heading over after being discharged from the hospital. Police say the gunman drove by around 11 00. Fired out the window on dwight street. People were shot on the leg, the torso. One person has more serious injuries. That person was shot to the neck. So many shots were fired, actually one resident told us they thought it was fireworks. And i suspected it was just firecrackers which we hear a lot around here. Then i saw ambulances coming down and sirens, and i poked my head out and saw cop cars showing up.
