WMWO Chamber of Commerce honors leaders at awards ceremony

The West Monroe-West Ouachita Chamber of Commerce held its 2021 Small Business Awards May 13 at the West Monroe Convention Center to honor leaders in the business community. 
"We are proud to recognize these outstanding businesses as true community champions," Amanda Hatten Edge, Chairman of the WMWO Chamber, said in a news release. "In a year marked with hurricanes, natural disaster, and pandemic our business community has risen to the innovative challenge." 
Dr. Terry King, owner of King Springs, received the 2021 Innovator of the Year Award. In 1975, King and Dr. Noel Mills invented the "cardiac umbrella" to close holes in the heart without surgery. The technology changed how structural defects in the hears are repaired, both in children and adults.
