Fresh hopes of a major economic boost from the State's ambitious climate plans are blowing in the wind on the Shannon Estuary as the ESB revealed a major new prospect of generating massive power off the Kerry coast.
The semi-state has revealed that it is looking at the potential of developing a massive offshore wind-farm on the Kerry/Clare coast that could ultimately land sufficient energy to the grid at Moneypoint to power up to three quarters of the nation's homes.
It's being taken very seriously coming as it does from the ESB in the context of Ireland's frantic drive to cut current carbon emissions by over 50 per cent by the end of the decade.
