Will Worcester high schools have prom this year? Covid, safety concern

The lead-up to high school graduation can be an exciting and busy time for seniors. The spring of the final year is loaded with milestones.
For many, one of the high points is the senior prom, an escape from the school setting — and dress code — that has marked the previous 12 years.
This year, with COVID-19 no friend of traditions, schools are taking a varied approach to the prom. Some are moving forward, with limits. Others have canceled it, steering students to other senior events.
Sutton High School, which initially balked at a prom, is holding one on May 14 at Union Station in Worcester. Officials were careful to stay within state capacity limits.
