Islandwide vaccination rates reached 50% in late May, at 62,500 of 125,000 people, but vaccinations have dropped in recent weeks.
All people ages 12 and above have been eligible for vaccines since early May, following the Food and Drug Administration's emergency authorization for the Pfizer-BioNTech shots for younger people. 
Coronavirus apathy may be an obstacle as adolescents who want the shot have received it. 
Pfizer and Moderna vaccines require two shots, either three or four weeks apart. The Johnson & Johnson is effective after one vaccination.
