23 new COVID-19 cases on Guam Pacific Daily News The Joint Information Center reported 23 new cases of COVID-19 identified out of 606 tests performed July 9. Of those, 12 cases were identified through contact tracing and one case reported recent travel history and was identified in quarantine, the Joint Information Center said. Guam has had a total of 8,454 officially reported cases of COVID-19. There have been 141 deaths and there are 101 cases in active isolation. The CAR Score is 1.2. To date, a total of 92,590 or 77.13% of adults on Guam have received either both doses in the two-dose series (Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna), or the single dose series (Johnson & Johnson/Janssen) of the COVID-19 vaccine, the Joint Information Center stated. ....

Our View: Guam should be seen as a vaccine haven in the Pacific Pacific Daily News View Comments Guam has an opportunity with vaccine-tourism. The concept would allow Americans working in foreign countries to come to Guam to receive the COVID vaccine. The island already has seen some of this in the last couple of months. Although this is a good idea, a way to jumpstart some sort of tourism program, we also have to remember that as much as it’s an idea based in economy, the way the program is marketed is just as important to our future in how it will be perceived. ....
