Summer has arrived, and the hottest season of the year is heating up in Netflix land in July: For the first time ever in its nearly 25-year history, the streaming service will release new installments of a movie series one after the other on a weekly basis.
This rare move marks a departure from the company's long-standing tradition of dropping an entire movie franchise or seasons of shows in one massive rollout — all at the same time.
So get excited, as the consequential moment kicks off Friday with the debut of the Netflix original movie "Fear Street Part 1: 1994," the first installment in a time-spanning teen horror trilogy. The rollout continues on July 9 with "Fear Street Part 2: 1978," followed by "Fear Street Part 3: 1666" on July 16.
