The Broadmoor hotel never tires of reaching for the stars. Or wearing diamonds, for that matter.
The luxury resort on Colorado Springs' southwest side, which marks its 100th anniversary Friday, holds two lofty distinctions when it comes to travel organization ratings given to hotels and resorts for service, accommodations and amenities.
AAA has awarded The Broadmoor a five-diamond rating for 42 straight years, making it the only North American property to receive AAA's top rating each year since the organization launched its diamond system in 1976.
The Forbes Travel Guide, meanwhile, has given The Broadmoor five stars for 58 consecutive years. It's the longest five-star streak - the top rating - in the 60 years Forbes and its predecessor publications have ranked hotels, resorts, restaurants and spas.
