CHARLESTON — Eight deaths from the COVID-19 coronavirus were reported in the 24-hour period from Wednesday to Thursday by the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources.
Deaths were confirmed in Marion, Harrison, Mingo, Hampshire, Kanawha, Mineral and Ohio counties. The youngest was a 48-year-old woman from Hampshire County, the state said.
Two deaths from the virus reported in March, a 69-year-old man from Pleasants County and a 79-year-old woman from Mercer County, have been determined as duplicates, reducing the total of deaths from the virus in West Virginia to 2,705 as of Thursday.
Eleven residents of Pleasants County have died from the virus since the pandemic began, according to the statistics on Thursday from the state.
