CHARLESTON Two people from the region were confirmed Wednesday as deaths from the COVID-19 coronavirus by the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources.
The state reported the deaths of an 86-year-old woman from Wood County and am 88-year-old woman from Wetzel County, according to the Wednesday morning pandemic update from the department.
Fourteen more deaths were reported in the 24-hour period from Tuesday to Wednesday morning. The state’s death count as of Wednesday was 2,748 residents since the pandemic began a year ago.
The number of deaths in Wood County as of Wednesday was 169 and 30 in Wetzel in County. Total deaths from other counties were: Calhoun 0; Doddridge 6; Gilmer 5; Jackson 61; Pleasants 11; Ritchie 11; Roane 9; Tyler 10; Wirt 3

CHARLESTON Three deaths were reported from the virus from Sunday to Monday, the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources said Monday.
Over the weekend, seven deaths from the virus were confirmed in the 24-hour period from Friday to Saturday mornings, the state said. No deaths were reported in the period from Saturday to Sunday, the state said.
Deaths Monday were reported in Berkeley, Wayne and Kanawha counties. The youngest was a 63-year-old man from Kanawha County.
Deaths this weekend were reported in Monongalia, Kanawha, Raleigh, Boone, Ohio and Marshall counties, the state said. The youngest was a 59-year-old man from Kanawha County, the state said.

CHARLESTON Eight deaths from the COVID-19 coronavirus were reported in the 24-hour period from Wednesday to Thursday by the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources.
Deaths were confirmed in Marion, Harrison, Mingo, Hampshire, Kanawha, Mineral and Ohio counties. The youngest was a 48-year-old woman from Hampshire County, the state said.
Two deaths from the virus reported in March, a 69-year-old man from Pleasants County and a 79-year-old woman from Mercer County, have been determined as duplicates, reducing the total of deaths from the virus in West Virginia to 2,705 as of Thursday.
Eleven residents of Pleasants County have died from the virus since the pandemic began, according to the statistics on Thursday from the state.

CHARLESTON Residents of Jackson and Tyler counties are among the most recent COVID-19 fatalities announced by the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources.
The state recorded nine additional deaths attributed to the coronavirus from Monday to Tuesday morning, bringing the total to 2,695 since the start of the pandemic. The deaths announced Tuesday included an 87-year-old woman from Tyler County and a 75-year-old woman from Jackson County.
Active cases in local counties (previous day) are: Calhoun, 13 (12); Doddridge, 20 (25); Gilmer, 54 (50); Jackson, 95 (99); Pleasants, 25 (28); Ritchie, 19 (23); Roane, 27 (25); Tyler, 26 (28); Wetzel, 128 (126); Wirt, 32 (26); Wood, 109 (110).
Wirt County remained red, the highest level on the state map measuring the severity of COVID-19 spread, along with Berkeley and Wayne counties. Wetzel and Gilmer counties were orange, the second-highest category.
