Good riddance, April. This wasn’t 2020 pandemic horrific for the Yankees, but it was up there for a while.
Give them some credit. The Yanks flushed their bad first month the best possible way Friday night with a 10-0 whipping of the Detroit Tigers. That’s how you send a message to everyone that your 12-14 record indeed is a fluke. Aaron Judge mashed two homers, one a grand slam, three other Yankees went deep and Gerrit Cole continued his early Cy Young candidacy with six shutout innings, 12 strikeouts and not a single walk.
