Beauty queen’s crown ‘snatched’
on stage

Mrs World Sri Lanka in Colombo on Sunday, 4 April 2021, reigning Mrs World Caroline Jurie – the 2019 Sri Lankan winner – caused quite a ruckus on stage.
She announced that the new winner was disqualified and was not allowed to hold the title as she is a divorcee.
“There is a rule that you have to be married and not divorced,” Jurie said. “So, I am taking my first steps saying that the crown goes to the first runner up.”
Jurie is then seen walking over to De Silva and removing the crown off her head, before crowning the first runner up. De Silva was seen walking off stage following the confrontation and was later treated in hospital for after she suffered head injuries from the incident.
