We have that breaking news for you in new jersey where a cab driver has been shot to death. Eyewitness News Reporter kala rama is live in rahway with the details. Kala . Reporter ken, we can tell thank you that cab driver was shot and moments later crashed into another car on this quiet street sheer. Its a residential area, it happened by the tree. Bedford is quiet. An hour ago what a different story. Take a look. Let me show you what it looked like then. Police swarming the area. The yellow cab with doors open was analyzed by crime scene investigators. The street was robbed off by police tape. A mother and her adult son were in the car hit by the cab. We are told they are not hurt. We reached out to the cab company, station cab inc out of a way. Thy didnt have any details to tell us about the shooting incident that lead to the cab drivers death just after 11 00. The Union County Prosecutors office is taking over the investigation. We do have calls in to them but at this time we know so far that no arrests have been made and crime scene investigators are still trying to figure out a motive in all of this. As of now, there is no sign of the crew and there was no distress call from the ship. Eyewitness News Reporter dray clark is life with what we know at this point. Dray . Good morning, michelle. Where is the boat. What happened to the people on board. Those are the two leading questions this morning. The full scale search to find the missing vessel was called off because of darkness. The harbor unit and the coast guard have been using sonar in the sandy hack channel in the area where the Sandy Hook Channel in the area where the vessel was last seen. During the search they found two coolers and a life preserver. The 40foot fishing vessel was seen taking on water and then it disappeared in the channel. The Sandy Hook Channel is roughly 35 feet deep and 800 feet wide and, so, search teams and helicopters searched as much of the area as possible. So far they have found nothing substantial. Now, the boat is usually docked in new jersey. But we said a moment ago, there was no distress call from the boat and so far no one has been reported missing. Later on this morning, when we get the first sight of daylight, we expect the first to continue to find the boat. Dray clark, channel 7 Eyewitness News. A long island Senior Citizen complex deals with a power outage for seven hours before any response from pse g. It started around 4 00 p. M. Yesterday on Fulton Avenue cutting power to two apartment buildings. Hempsteads deputy mayor said pse g did not show up to the complex until 11 00 last night when crews discovered an underground transformer had blown up. Power is expected to return sometime today. Love that quote, sometime. They set up a generator to supply power to the complexes. 400 customers are in the dark. Police want your help catching a suspect in a violent attack on a teenager in upper manhattan. Take a look at this surveillance video. Police say a man in the red hat stabbed a 15yearold boy in the back several times before running off. It happened a little more than 12 hours ago on west 184th street in washington heights. The victim was treated at the hospital. We do not have any word on his condition at this point. Long Island Police using a mans video post and his own Facebook Page to arrest him for vanda legals red light cameras. Suffolk police investigated this selfie video from stephen ruth. Police say he tampered with cameras three different times this week including twice yesterday alone. Newark finance first superintendent attended the newark popup shower first superintendent attended a meeting yesterday. Christopher cerf took over the district this summer. Reports of a possible gunman at your childs school, phillip barber in west virginia. A 14yearold boy held several students and a teacher hostage in a classroom with a pistol. The school went on lockdown as authorities moved everyone to the football field. After negotiations, the suspect agreed to release the hostages and he surrendered to police. Police tell us the cab driver was shot and moments later he crashed into another vehicle with two occupants inside. It happened by that massive tree on bedford street. Its now quiet but just about an hour and a half ago, a different scene. You can see police swarming the area. Again, the cab robbed off there with police tape. The doors open as crime scene investigators analyze the area. The street was then roped off by police tape as well. The nypd sent in sonar Harbor Patrol unit to help in the search. There is no sign of people, the crew and no distress call from the ship. The sinking was reported by the captain of another fishing boat. New this morning the search is on for three robbery suspects that broke in a brooklyn apartment and used duct tape to tie up a family inside. Police released this video of the suspects overnight. Investigators say the men entered the apartment on sutter avenue, flashed a gun before tying up a man and a woman along with a 13yearold girl. The suspects pistol whipping the man with their gun before fleeing with 3,500 in cash as well as jewelry and electronics. James holmes will be formally sentenced today to life in prison. That is the automatic sentence after one juror refused to vote for the death penalty. Holmes mother took the stand after hundreds of victims testified about the emotional scars inflicted by the massacre. She offered an apology then said. He feels remorse for his horrible actions but his ability to express his emotions with his face or verbally has been impaired by disease and medication and we know that that is very, very hard for people to see. His attorney told the judge that holmes will not appeal his conviction and that will spare victims from another emotional trial. In the race for the white house, donald trump is facing criticism for a testing confrontation with an influential hispanic journalist who was forced to leave a news conference. Take a look at the video of the storm. Its known as a haboob. Bill evans loves to say dont call that here. We call it a dust storm. Forecasters say it was formed by two merging thunderstorms. Debbie, thank you check right now in new jersey, police are trying to track down a killer after a cab driver is found murdered in his own car. This happening in rahway on a quiet street. Kala rama live at the scene with the update for us. Reporter good morning. The cab driver was shot and the car continued moving hitting at least one car with two people inside on this quiet street that was then turned into a crime scene. Take a look at the scene after 11 00 when the shooting incident happened. The yellow cab with the doors open analyzed by crime scene investigators. The street was robed off by police tape. A mom and her adult son were in one of the cars that the cab crashed into but were not hurt. We reached out to the cab company, station cab inc out of a way. They didnt have the details considering it happened six hours ago. Rahway police tell us that the Union County Prosecutors office has taken over the investigation and we do have calls in to them. Reporter good morning, michelle. The full scale search to find the missing 40foot fishing boat will resume with the u. S. Coast guard and nypd leading the effort. The boat was spotted sinking yesterday around 4 30 in the Sandy Hook Channel. Search teams did find two coolers and a life preserver floating in the channel. Nypd dive team members looked under water and choppers sevenned from above and used sonar. So far search teams found nothing substantial. A few people riding on a separate private boat notified authorities that the boat was taking on water then sank. There was no distress call from the boat and no one is reported missing. The leading questions is where is the boat and what happened to the people who were on board. Again the full scale search will resume later on this morning at first light with police using every piece of technology and tools they have available to find the answers. It started around 4 00 on Fulton Avenue cutting power to two apartment buildings including the senior center. Hempsteads deputy mayor didnt show up to the complex until 11 00 last night when crews discovered an underground transformer had blown up. We are concerned about our residents here making sure that they are safe but we have to find out why did it take so long for pse g. Utility workers set up a generator to supply power to the senior center. Right now nearly 400 customers are in the dark without power.
