Virginia Beach-based National Guard battalion deploys to Poland

The unit was alerted in 2022 to prepare for a possible mobilization and received in the fall of 2023 their official notification to deploy. Alfred Puryear, spokesperson for the Virginia National Guard, said the mobilization is not a direct response to current world events.
