CHARLESTON — Two deaths from the virus were reported Tuesday by the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources, a 73-year-old woman from Ohio County and a 77-year-old woman from Wyoming County, the department said.
The total number of deaths in West Virginia stands at 2,747, the state said in its Tuesday morning update on the pandemic.
New active cases of the virus were 328 in the 24-hour period from Monday to Tuesday, an increase from the 293 new cases from Sunday to Monday morning, but lower than 455 from Friday to Saturday morning and 415 from Saturday to Sunday morning.
Total active cases as of Tuesday morning were 7,347, a drop of 123 from the 7,470 on Monday. Active cases, reported Saturday morning at 7,206, are at their highest since the end of February and have been increasing since around mid-March.
