PEABODY, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Officials in Peabody are pulling out all the stops as they try to figure out what caused two unidentified loud booms this week.
Hundreds of residents from Salem to Peabody told police they heard and felt two explosion-like sounds at around 11:30 a.m. and noon on Tuesday in the area of Goodwin Circle to downtown Peabody.
Police spokesman Captain Dennis Bonaiuto said the Peabody Police Department would send up a drone Wednesday to see if anything obvious could be spotted that might help them figure out what prompted the booms.
Police said on Facebook that Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) canine units would also be in the area Wednesday to assist in the investigation to determine the origin of the loud noises that were both heard and felt.
