A unique tow was employed, on April 29, 2024, using a tug boat and a towboat pushing a barge loaded with air separation units for the Nucor West Virginia construction of a new sheet steel mill in Mason County, near the community of Apple Grove. The M/V’s MISS ELIZABETH is pulling and GRADY RAY is pushing the deck barge to Nucor's the construction site at mile 282 on the Ohio River. Also, Nucor Steel West Virginia Vice President and General Manager John Farris gave a construction update on the $3.5 billion new steel mill project.
