hours. the first lady said if she would have known how the students would have reacted to the challenge, she may have increased the goal. i'm surae chinn for 9news now. >> the first lady made reference to a gw student, taylor hubbard who fell from a window. he died in the hospital. his friends are searching for answers tonight. >> reporter: at the george washington university dorm, where taylor hub art lost his life -- hubbard lost his life and next door where he lived. simple tokens of remembrance. >> really funny and happy guy. >> reporter: sundays, there was a moment of silence. >> it is my sad task, however, to inform you that one of our sophomore students, taylor hubbard, passed away after falling yesterday morning from a residence hall window. >> reporter: the bioengineering student was found lying in the grass 4:00 a.m. saturday morning by other students walking past the hall. >> he was barely breathing and had serious internal injuries. >> reporter: hubbard didn't live at the hall, but may have been visiting friends. >> that he was probably in his friends room and they were probably watching tv. >> reporter: how taylor fell and why is a mystery to both police and his friends. >> they hoped halfway up, but you have to like squish down to get through the window. >> reporter: police have not revealed if taylor was with someone when he fell out the window and if that person shed any light. an autopsy report should provide information if he was under the influence when he fell to his death. the one lesson for george washington university students on this day is that life is fleeting and fragile. in northwest dc, 9news now. university says at that point, the death appears to be accidentsal and the investigation is being conducted jointly by georgetown university campus police and the metropolitan police department. excuse me. at this hour, repair crews ron the scene of a water main break in northwest washington at 21st and pennsylvania avenue. it's a leak that will require a major repair. and will likely affect the morning commute in the downtown area. the fop says a retired connecticut police officer who was hit by a car is now conscious. 62-year-old william tinker was in washington for national police week. he was walking back to his hotel after a parade friday night when he was struck at 8th street and new jersey avenue. tinker suffered several broken bones and doctors also evaluated him for possible head injuries. the driver of the vehicle that struck him remained at the scene and told police officers that he had a green light. no charges have been filed thus far. a man's body has been found in a state park in weekend. state police are treating this like a weekend. it was discovered in the park by somebody looking for a place to fish when he spotted on elbow protruding from the dirt. it showed signs of trauma. the next step will be on autopsy of course. rescue workers from maryland and virginia resumed their efforts on the potomac to find a fisherman. daniel figueroa disappeared. that happened saturday evening. several family members reported him missing and today, searchers used kayaks and a helicopters to continue their search. thus far, they've come up empty. busy at the airport. shutting down because of volcanickish drifting across edge -- ash drifting across england from iceland. heathrow is shut down. tomorrow, plane crash -- a plane crashes into a florida residence sending three people to the hospital. it hit the roof in clear water, florida and crashed in the backyard causing a small fire. the pilot and the passengers, they survived, but they were hurt. >> there were three people in the plane. the pilot and a female passenger were transported for nonlife-threatening injuries and another passenger was transported to trauma alert. >> the faa is looking into the cause of the crash tonight. well, the space shuttle atlantis made its final voyage to the international space station today. the team greeted the shuttle crew members hugs and pictures. the astronauts will spend a week at the space station. they'll perform a brief space walk. the first one takes place on monday. now something you don't see every day in the capital. we've got a horse galloping along a road this evening. not sure how he got there. but he was captured unharmed. >> the time now just concerned to keep -- lizzie, how are you and things just go from there. with me, i have to say, i'm lizzie, how are you, i have this syndrome. i am normal and i have to explain everything. >> reporter: when she was born, liz psi weighed just two pounds and three ounces! doctors told my parents that i was never going to walk or talk or do anything. the cause of her illness remains undiagnosed. what doctors do know is the college senior has a very high metabolism. >> i'll eat and 10 or 15 minutes later, i'll want something else. >> reporter: she is blind in one eye. but lizzie does not dwell on the illness. instead, the communications major wants to make a difference. >> god made me this way for a reason. >> reporter: what makes the illness so puzzling is it mimics the characteristics of several syndromes. one of the biggest being progeria. lizzie is now over 5'0" tall. i'm anita brikman, 9news now. >> the other woman is in england. the youngest person is 13 in texas. in colorado this weekend, a severe storm dumped several inches of hail along highways and fields. some areas were under as much as a foot of hail on sunday. how do you get around that? also reports of tornadoes in the denver area. >> break out the snow plow. >> that part of the country, that is the big hail belt they call it and very typical for them to get a lot of hail. you have to pull out the snow plows. not going to see that here, but rain starting to move our way and this is mainly going to be a light to steady rain. it's going to add up after we get this to over the course of the couple of days. first, we've got a lot of rain in the forecast, but the mane vicinity is going to be first -- event is going to be first thing tomorrow. that's going to be more of a steady to just moderate rain at best. really cools us down for the next two. only a high of 58 on tuesday. now, we're back up with some sunshine on wednesday. so let's take you right into this forecast here first. overcast skies already there. not going to fall too far with low temperatures here tonight. that's going to hold temperatures down. i think the showers building towards washington after 4:00 in the morning. by about mid-morning, this is where we begin the rain in earnest, around the immediate washington metro. agains out west first and spreading into washington and the entire region is going to be under rain. only lower 60s for high temperatures tomorrow and that's if we're lucky. we're not going to make it there. right now, a very mild night. the blanket of the clouds that had moved in southwest of here. 59 baltimore, frederick at 59. lot of 60s northern virginia and nashville at 66. here's the satellite and radar together and you get a good look at the picture of the rain. again, the general system is slow moving. southwest to northeast here and right around charlottesville and richmond, the rain right now and this is the 9 future cast. it's doing really well with this. this is 10:15, mid-morningment this is the heart of the event. as we go through the afternoon hours here monday and again, it doesn't look like a lot of heavy rain coming down. no thunderstorms out there, just a rain event. lasting through monday evening and then make the transition with lower resolution forecast to put it through the rest of tuesday into wednesday, still hanging around with showers and even through the tuesday time frame, but the showers pull aparking lot and we start to see -- apart and we start to see the sunshine comes back wednesday finally getting the storm system out of here wednesday and by the end to have week. exactly how much rain?
