into the dc taxicab industry. agents are now working on several fronts. two of those fronts involve alleged bribes to city workers and their bosses. >> reporter: the fbi probe includes alleged bribes at the dc station in southwest. back in april 9news now disclosed cab drivers were leaving $20 bills in the ashtrays of their vehicles. >> and you have seen this happen? >> yes, i have. >> you have been offered a bribe? >> i have been offered a bribe many times. >> some inspectors were taking the bribes as payments for overlooking deficiencies on the cabs. >> walk over to me and give me a smile and say there is something for you inside the vehicle. >> the second part of the fbi probe centers on city hall. on thursday the fbi arrested ted loza, chief of staff to dc councilman jim graham. obtained legal council. a former assistant u.s. attorney now with a law form. graham said he knew of no wrongdoing. >> mr. loza has never, to my recollection be spoken to me about any element of any firefighters on the scene had every reason to fear the worst. digital correspondent lindsey mastis with the story. >> reporter: bruce, it is the penn mar shopping center and back in may stores in that same shopping store exploded because of a gas leak. >> when it -- when i was coming out i smelled gas. >> he works at america's best. he and 125 others were ordered out after a gas leak was detected at marshall's. >> it is a little bit concerning but the fire department was on the scene pretty quick and they are doing their job. >> reporter: mark brady with prince george's fire and ems says firefighters arrived just in time. >> we were probably extremely close to having another devastating event. >> reporter: as people pull up and see the empty parking lot and the police tape they ask what happened when they learn it is a natural gas leak they are surprised because it has happened here before. >> back on may 7th firefighters evacuated up to 50 some people and probably saved their lives if not serious injury. >> reporter: electric was immediately shut off but when they tried to turn off gas meters it did not help. they believe gas leaked in from the outside. >> i don't think it is the shopping center itself i think it is the infrastructure that services this shopping center. >> reporter: it is a scenario he has seen before. >> again we are very early into this incident but it sounds like the same exact set of circumstances is occurring now as it did in may. >> reporter: just the thought of another gas leak in this area is turning customers away from nearby stores that remain open. >> i don't know, i'm kind of scared now because now my heart is racing because i'm not sure if i want to go in the store. i think i'm going to go home. >> i would say i'm a little concerned, yes. it has changed my mind today about going there. >> this incident kept firefighters on the scene four five hours. brady says the shopping center will remain closed tomorrow while the washington gas company and pepco work to resolve the problem for good. bruce? >> thank you, lindsey. a local woman doing yardwork at her residence was killed when a tree fell on her this evening. the 63-year-old woman was doing yardwork in front of her house when a large tree fell on top of her. the woman's husband came outside to find her trapped beneath the tree and called 91. >> when fire rescue units arrived on the scene we found a 63-year-old female underneath of an approximate 10-inch caliper tree. it appeared to be dead and possibly with the rain we have received in the area was uprooted. >> the woman was taken to the hospital where she died. her name is being withheld tonight pending notification of the rest of her family. a crash in tampa, florida, closing lanes. it happened just as football fans were leaving a buckaneers game. witnesses say it all started when a charter bus rear ended a car. >> it happened so fast you don't have time to be scared. most scary is
