Holly williams reports from turkey. Reporter the colonel is too frightened of assassination by islamic extremists to show his face but wanted to tell us about what he called the strategic mistakesmade by the u. S. In its program to train and equip syrian fighters. When the first group of 54 american trained fighters entered syria in july, several of them were captured by islamic militants. Because we had so few men, they were easy prey, the colonel told us. He claims he gave the u. S. The names of more than 1200 fighters but after strict vetting just over a hundred were accepted. The other complaint is america left his men vulnerable by giving them too few weapons and ammunition. But the commander of the second group of 70 u. S. This conviction has led me from the beginning of my ministry to advocate in different languages the global abolition of the death penalty. Supporters say she turned her life around in prison, even ministering to other women behind bars. Her boyfriend who actually carried out the murder is serving a life sentence in prison. A dad and his stepdad shared a special moment with a young woman they both call their daughter. Reporter everyone was awaiting the wedding march and her biological dad marched up to the wedding photographer. And said im going to do something special. Just be ready. For me to thank me for all them years wouldnt justify and obviously the picture showed the month. Reporter todd was tuxed up as the music was queued up and then he felt a tug at his arm. He came up to me, reached out and grabbed my hand. He said hey, he said youve worked for this as hard as i have. He said you deserve this as much as i do. You can help us walk our daughter down the aisle. At that point i had no clue what was going on. What better way to thank somebody than to assist me walking my our daughter down the aisle. That was the most important thing in my life. Reporter but merging two families wasnt always well received. For 14 years tough patches emerged. It hasnt always been peaches and cream by any stretch of the imagination. Reporter never in the same imagination could they foresee their story going viral. Weve seen it all, been through it all, but no matter what at the end of the day were all happy. Thats our daughter. Amen. Reporter a wedding march that proves happily ever after isnt always limited to the bride and groom. That was a story that my wife pulled me over to the computer to read it. It went through our whole community. We thought it was great. Somebody doing the right thing in a big way. Its a great story. Weather story is a big one, too, this week. It will change every 24 hours. And it could pack a pretty big punch. It could. Were tracking joaquin and ahead of that we have a lot of rain well be watching. This will be the third hurricane of the season, category 3 with winds at least 100. It may get to 115 on the latest forecast. There it is, north of the dominican republic. This is not going to florida. Its a big trough, upper level dip in the jet stream will turn it north. This looks more and more impressive, a lot more impressive than it did yesterday and became a hurricane at 8 00 when the Hurricane Center in miami upgraded it. I want to show you the models first. In the short term, this is tracking toward the west. Here we are by thursday night. So it may get toward San Salvador Island right there on the far Eastern Central bahamas. After that it will turn to the north. Beyond that, look at the turn some of these models are making toward North Carolina, in toward south carolina. Some of them are coming up toward delmarva. Some of them continue to go up toward new england. So weve got to keep this really close attention to that. Officially weve got hurricane warnings out for the central bahamas. Hurricane watches for the northern bahamas. I think theyre going to be spared. Look at this strengthening to a category two as we go through thursday into thursday night. Thats 110 miles an hour there friday morning. Then it goes north. Maybe even getting stronger, a category 3 with winds 115 or so. After that the official track remember the other mondays into North Carolina . Off shore of ocean city, thats monday by 8 00. 85 mile an hour winds. Some of the models that i was showing you, they make landfall North Carolina, virginia sunday morning, sunday afternoon. So this is going to change as we get closer and closer to it but ive got to point out the threat here because it is a real threat and if it goes west of the bay, it will be like isabel and lots of problems. For this afternoon, spotty shower. Maybe a peek of sun. Mid to upper 70s. This evening lots of clouds. Well have temperatures falling through the 60s. Brisk northwest winds kicking in. That will allow cool air to move in. A very warm sticky air mass. 84 in tappahannock and reedville. 70 in winchester. Its 77 here in washington. On first alert doppler, a few sprinkles are still out there. A couple of showers which have been moving through areas in Prince Georges County, southern prince georges now into northern calvert. Dunkirk. Looks like it will head toward north beach, chesapeake beach. A couple of sprinkles in fairfax trying to get back toward northwestern charles county, maybe accokeek and indian head. Look at these showers crashing south from pennsylvania right through Frederick County into upper montgomery. So damascus over to clarksburg, just about to germantown and boyds and western howard as well. Theyll continue to ve. So we can still see a few more showers. Theres the rain from last night. This energy back here will help another low get going. That will return moisture here as soon as tomorrow afternoon and evening. Short term not much going on tonight. We see the showers tomorrow morning more to our south and east. During the day some of them get over to us. But a lot of it doesnt really start to move in till overnight thursday night into friday and friday with this cool breeze out of the northeast or wind out of the northeast. Temperatures may knock it out of the 50s may not get out of the 50s. So upper 70s today. Still mild, isolated showers. 50s tonight but not much moving tomorrow. Low 60s. Chance of showers in the afternoon and evening. We may have to go a yellow alert day tomorrow. Were there on friday with the wind, the rain, the wetness. Its going to be raw, 58. Over the weekend looks like more rain potentially saturday. Since are home. Maryland is home. Joaquin . Yeah. Worst case theyll have to cancel that game. Well have to see. Dont get too nervous yet. Then better early next ekwe what can i make for you . How about one of our reuben sandwiches . Choose from tender corned beef or oven roasted turkey breast, topped with sauerkraut, melty swiss cheese and thousand island dressing. Enjoy one while theyre here subway. Eat fresh. For some it was like a birthday 150 years in the making. A team of underwater archaeologists aazed three razed three can nones from the river. For one man watching this unfold, the Treasure Hunt was personal. His great grand fair made two of those connons in 1863 cannons in 1863. Ive been all over the country. Now that ive seen these two, ive seen all of them. So the cannons will be taken to a Conservation Center in North Charleston where theyll sit in some preservation tubs for to years and then theyll be displayed outside a Veterans Administration building thats getting constructed there. A lot of history there. We have an isolated shower today. Much cooler tomorrow. Showers return later on in the afternoon. Cold rain friday. Warmer rain saturday. Potentially joaquin on sunday.
