Still a lot of Unanswered Questions at this hour in regards to this deadly crash mainly because we have since learned the dashboard camera in the officers 2006 cruiser was not working but we can tell you police do have another piece of video theyre hoping will help answer some of the questions. Lets take a look. A white passenger bus, the officers cruiser and then a dark minivan were all captured on a red light camera as they pass through greenbelt at mandan roads 3 00 a. M. Saturday. Police are looking for those descrieferls of the two vehicles. Officer Brennan Rabain was off duty, turned on lights and sirens and came on duty as he tried to pull a speeding car over. He lost control of his cruiser in the the next mile and a half after that intersection. The 26yearold died instantly. His girlfriend who was in the front passenger seat survived the crash. There was a lady inside the car. I came out. The closest thing we could get from her was a vehicle was at a high rate of speed. The officer made a statement about this guy is going to kill someone. Reporter again, police this morning looking for the drivers of that white passenger bus and a dark minivan. They believe that dark minivan could have been the speeding vehicle. The man accused of five different shootings in three maryland counties is due in court today. Police say hong young has admitted to the shootings, including one near the nsa in fort meade. Niki burdine is live outside the Anne Arundel County courthouse with more this morning. Reporter hes accused in a string of shootings five in all. Today a judge will review his bond. We expect to hear more about what led up to these shootings. Young is in a Detention Center now but previously he was being held and treated at a hospital after he was arrested last week. Young said he heard voices in his head. The shooting spree started in february. Investigators say he shot and wounded 561yearold man outside anne arundel mills mall. Young is also accused of shooting at a building of the nsa, a walmart in laurel and a teeter theater in human ya mall columbia mall. Police later found hundreds of rounds of ammunition as well as ten weapons, including a handgun and a cross bow in youngs home. Again that bond review hearing is later this morning at 8 30. A 26yearold Prince Georges CountyPolice Officer was killed this weekend after he lost control of his vehicle trying to make a traffic stop. Heres what we do know so far. That officer rabain was off duty Early Saturday Morning. He was driving his Girlfriend Home when they both spotted a speeding vehicle. He decided to attempt a traffic stop. He turned on his lights and sirens and then that tragic accident. We dont know what happened next leading up to the crash but police are hoping to two drivers do. Lets take a look at some video. Police are looking for the drivers of this white passenger bus and a dark minivan that followed the cruiser past this intersection. They were caught on a red light camera at greenbelt and maad. It was around 3 00 saturday morning. 26yearold officer Brennan Rabain lost control of that cruiser seconds later. He died instantly. His girlfriend, though, survived. The chief said according to policy, officers are in fact allowed to have passengers in their vehicles whether they are on or off duty. Thats obviously something we need to look at and evaluate. Is that still a good policy today or isnt it . I can tell you right now that theres nothing indicating that this officer did anything wrong. The chief reviewing that policy as to whether or not police can have passengers in their vehicles looking for help this morning and hoping you can help find the drivers of those two vehicles, the white Passenger Van and that dark minivan. They believe at this point in the investigation that dark minivan could have been the speeding vehicle. The chief also tells us that weather could have played a factor in this deadly crash. The hearing is set to start at 8 30 in annapolis. The judge will consider several things, among them the severity of the crimes hes accused of. These all started in february. Hong young is 35 years old and police say he first shot and wounded a 61yearold man outside the anne arundel mills mall back in february. For that hes charged with assault and attempted murder. Police say hong also fired shots at a building at the nsa, a truck on the icc, a walmart in laurel, and at a theater at the columbia mall. Young is from beltsville and he was a prison guard for several years until he resigned in 2014. According to court documents, young had declined to have an attorney represent him and he said he heard voices in his head, even telling him to shoot at that random driver on the icc. Rain, though, is on the way tomorrow afternoon, tomorrow night into early wednesday and friday may give us a little headache in the morning. Lets show you whats happening right now. With the later sunset, maybe were later i guess it is with the time, 7 30. Just a little bit of light out there. Mostly cloudy skies. That will break. Well see more sunshine with high clouds around. If we can go mostly sunny, well get into the low 60s. Ill forecast upper 50s thinking enough clouds will be around. A pretty nice day with a 58 and fairly light winds out of the north at 5 give or take. Temperatures still cold enough, especially up in pennsylvania and north for Winter Weather problems. Were 39 with 40s to the south. Locally weve fallen down to freezing in a few spot. With all the snow melt over the weekend, there was enough Running Water on the roads that we could have some slick spots. 30 in gaithersburg. Freezing in leesburg. Manassas 30. Any concern is for isolated slick spots. Did you see the freezing temperatures in the Shenandoah Valley . Isolated slick spots for the next two, maybe three hours. 39 degrees, no wind. The humidity 67 so a pretty nice start to the day. Today quiet. The clouds should thin for even more sunshine this afternoon. Thats why a pretty nice finish to the day. Tonight, though, the clouds will thicken up. That will keep us from getting too cold. Most temps hey stay 40 or better tonight. Tomorrow morning well be dry for most of us. So a yellow alert goes into effect as we get into the afternoon because the rain will hoff in. So your commute home is going to be slowed down by that. If you do have outdoor plans today, no issues. Tomorrow get them done pretty early because the afternoon looks wet. The rain will be around at times tomorrow night into wednesday morning. Half an inch, maybe an inch. You throw in some snow melt and some of the streams and creeks which are running high may have minor flood concerns here. 58 today. Tonight 40. There will be in 30s in the suburbs but not a bad night. Tomorrow 52. The dry start but the rain developing. That will keep us from getting too warm tomorrow but should get rid of the rain after wednesday morning. Wednesday turns out decent in the afternoon, 62. By thursday another good day. If the rain gets here early enough, it could be in the form of freezing rain for agent while but generally a cold rain and 42. That will linger into early saturday and we break out to 55. Traveling from sully road into the district at l street northwest a37minute commute. And for my friends in Prince Georges County, traveling from laurel road to benning road a 27minute commute. The earlier accident on the southbound side of the bw parkway is all but wrapped up so no issues there. Traveling 066 no problems us a make your way toward the beltway. 95 free and clear as well. Just some volume starting to build up. If we head right now to sky 9, it shows us how things are shaping up on 50. This is inbound toward the district. Looks like some earlier issues that we had with potholes are not causing any delays but you want to be mindful if youre going to be traveling out in that area as well. Good news for metro riders. First wounding a man outside anne arundel mills mall and then headed to walmart in laurel, a theater in columbia mall, a building at the nsa and a truck on the icc. Investigators Say Mental Health issues played a factor in those shootings. The hearing is set for 8 30. Investigators here at Prince Georges County headquarters need your help this morning. They are looking for the drivers of two vehicles, a white Passenger Van and a dark colored minivan that may have information about the deadly crash over the weekend that killed 26yearold officer Brennan Rabain. Prince georges county police need your help finding a 13yearold boy from laurel. Police say axel morales was last seen in the 3900 block of briarwood drive sunday around 12 30 in the morning. He was wearing a gray sweat shirt, blue jeans and purple shoes. Anyone with information on his whereabouts should call Prince Georges County police. Maryland governor larry hogan has put the brakes on light rail until august at least. The delay is going to allow Bidding Companies to find a way to try to cut costs. The proposed purple line would be a sixmile system connecting New Carrollton to bethesda. Supporters of the purple line look meet with legislators at a rally later to highlight the need for the fran sit system they say.
