Bw parkway to kenilworth and new york avenue a better bet into cheverly this morning. Back to you. Two weeks of scandals have rocked the National Football league. And tarnished the shield. The league has come under fire for their handling of a series of Domestic Violence cases. It started with the ray rice elevator incident. Since thin its snowballed into so much more. Nick giovanni joins us now from the newsroom with a look at how the nfl is trying to solve the issue and move forward and salvage the image. Nick. Theres no question the league has been knee deep in damage control for the last couple of weeks as you mentioned and we sat down with a pr expert to talk about how they should move forward in a never ending pr nightmare. Simply put headon according to john maroon of maroon pr in maryland. He says the nfl is at a real Tipping Point at this point in terms of how its perceived by the public based on the way theyve handled the off the field instents with support of both incidents with support of both consumers and sponsors hanging in the balance at this point. He believes that Roger Goodell needs to show how serious the league is. When the brand gets hurt, when something is busy as the nfl gets hurt, very rarely is it one day a bp sort of deal. Usually a chipping, its a chipping away and thats kind of what were witnessing. But the nfl understands that i got to imagine. And thats why these steps are starting to take place. But they have to be real and they have to be substantiative. Now the first step you heard mentioned right there included the formation of a four member team assembled be craft the violence. In a letter this week Roger Goodell promised even more changes are ill to come. Now one way some teams are distancing themselves from these recent Domestic Violence scandals is by removing the jerseys of players involved from store shelves. Previous included in the case of ray rice. A Jersey Exchange today and saturday from 8 00 a. M. To 3 00 p. M. At m t bank stadium. And howard and i brought in a few items this morning. We have this lovely teacup that has been in his wifes family and this is the pocket watch thats been in my family. I got it from my late grandfather. But it was his mothers pocket watch. So lets start with the teacup. What can you tell us about that . Lets start with the teacup. I looked at it and first off one of the things that you can this is something that people at home can take home with them. Is that it says made in switzerland. Now obviously that tells us where its made. But thats also lets us date it because before 1890 they didnt put any country of origin. Before that it wouldnt say switzerland or anything. In 1890 they started to put just the country. If it would be switzerland it would be turn of the century. They changed it again to put made in. It also says it also says langenthal which is the name of the company and that also takes the name of a small town in switzerland. It was established in 1906. And we have numbers on the back of the saucer as well. Yes. Theyre both signed. Theyre both signed that tells you the lot or what . Just a factory number. But what howard tell me is he has a set of six of these can its also decorated with a town. It says basel. Which is the third most populous city in switzerland and its a little scene of the town. Very lovely. And he has six of those. What would you think that value is . The problem with this is that the demand for porcelain like this is down. Right now its worth six of them worth about 150. Thats not bad though and again this is important if you want to make sure your insurance is uptodate or whatever. What about the gold pocket watch . This is at the other end of the spectrum. We look at the cups and saucer and we say the demand is down on that. Thats why the values are down. But howard, its a beautiful cup and saucer. Its just the demand is down. Now with your watch, what makes this watch particularly in demand is what you were terming me herballier. Telling me earlier. Its gold. Gold has a historically vie value right now. High value right now. This is a watch made by waltham. They made a lot of the rare road watches that we hear about. I will be willing to bet that you probably wear this around your neck. I do. And thats why its a ladies watch. Its a smaller watch. The watch itself in working condition is worth about 1,250. Really . Oh. Yes. I didnt expect that. Its gone up in value. It took mepy surprise and its a working watch. They told me i could take this as a parting gift . No. You can give that back. Because the chain is also attached to that and thats a different the chain is 18carat gold and the chain itself is worth about 750. So youre wearing about 2,000, 2,500 worth of jewelry. This is the kind of information you can get from todd at the capital home show at the Dulles Town Center today, tomorrow and sunday and if you want to be filmed. Hell be there saturday three tibcmes you can have the opportunity to meet him and bring in all your stuff. He can even appraise from a photograph. How about that . Mike . Howard . And andrea that saucer cup that that came from my wifes grandmother so its a hand me down. So it may have a value of 150 on the street. It obviously is priceless. Beautiful skies this morning. Oh were looking great here in d. C. Got a little bit of fog to the south. Notice leonardtown quarter mile. Same in fredericksburg. So watch out there. Low beams a little extra time.
