Happened in North Charleston, South Carolina this past saturday. The officer was charged this afternoon. We want to warn you that video is graphic and were only going to show you parts of it but in it you can see the officer 33 year old Michael Slager shooting a blackman as he ran away. In a matter of seconds the video shows the officer pointing his gunfiring eight times at 50 year old Walter Scott Shooting him in the back as he ran away. The video is very demonstrate ever of exactly what happened. The mayor of North Charleston said the video from a bystander helped to determine exactly what happened leading to those murder charges. Weve got 343 Police Officers in our department. This is a bad decision by one of those 343. The whole incident began saturday afternoon here in this parking lot after officer slager stopped scott for a traffic violation. The cop pulled someone over. All of a sudden the doors swung open. Within a few minutes ems was already here. Investigators say scott got out of his car, ran into a grassy lot and thats when the officer tried to taser him but could not. The Police Report indicates there was a fight between scott and slager over his taser and that the officer feared for his life so he pulled out his gun. Tuesday night Walter Scotts family asked the community for prayer and his brother thanked the young man who captured his killing on camera. We cant get my brother back and my family is in deep mourning for that but through the process of justice has been served and i dont think that all Police Officers are bad cops. Mr. Scott had been arrested about ten times mostly for failing to pay Child Support or showing up for court hearings. The families attorney believes he ran from police because he was behind on Child Support payments and feared going to jail. Well the unexplained death of a virginia teenager is plunged an entire community into mourning. Broadrun senior madison small died this morning after a sudden illness and now, its being investigated by the medical Examiners Office. Reporter smalls father told me tonight he played softball with his daughter sunday night and on monday night, he rushed her to the hospital. Thats how quickly this mysterous illness came on. By this morning, his daughter, the captain of her High School Softball team and otherwise healthy teenager had passed away and tonight hundreds offer people gatherings here to grieve. Tonights varsity softball game was cancelled in ashburn, but nearly every inch of its stadium was full. Madison smalls teammates gathered around second base where their captain played for a vigil. Look at all of the people shes touched. Before long the entire broad run in field was full. Hundreds of students, parents and teammates each with memories to share. The teams right fielder. I would always tell her because i play right behind her, madison, i always got your back and now shes gone. I hope she always knows that. Coach ed steel was one of the first to learn small was sick. Her father emailed him this morning to say she would miss todays game and then called just a few hours later to say that madison had passed away.
