And we have been hearing from some teachers who say, that they seem to be happy this is not a perfect contract by any means but it is a pay raise for first time in five years. Tonight the contract will go before the School Reform commission for approval, last night, members of the Philadelphia Federation of teachers met at Liacouras Center vote on the contract, agreement, the tentative deal has been reached by pft and School District last friday. Now process moves forward, while most teachers seem excited to be working with the contract they say there are some issues that were not addressed in the agreement like trying to decrease class size and improving building maintenance. Im elated, excited we have got a contract, long time coming, and our members worked hard to get here. Negotiating team worked hard to get here and everyone is happy we have a contract there may not be everything we wanted in there but at least we have a contract. Were glad that the contract is settled. We know it will bring stability to the School District of philadelphia. The attention of teachers i believe will be much better because people are going to be able to plan their few tours. Philadelphia will be a place where we will be able to once again recruit educators to come to philadelphia, when there is a contract in place there is a different kind of environment in the schools and in the School District and for that we are really, really pleased about the agreement. Im happen that i teachers hoff been frozen are once again allowed to move up their pay scale. It is not money that they are owed. There is significant sacrifice that was given by people in the middle but i think contract is fair allowing people to once again walk up that scale and move up the steps. Im happy with that.
