Phillies go in extra innings for second straight night they try to pull off a weekend sweep against nationals next up in sports. The phillies actually surprising folks they took first two games from the nationals, a team that is supposed to be the best in the nl east. So, time to get greedy lets go for the weekend sweep. But it is most over rated player in the bigs. That right there for the haters. First inning solo shot including that putting up nationals up one to nothing. We will skip to the bottom of the fifth runners on second and third. Ryan howard strikes out again. His fourth k of the day and, his stock is dropping. Phillies down by one. Darren ruf with the solo home run. That is what he is supposed to do. His first hit of the season though. Lets go to extra innings. Top of the tenth, Justin Defratus comes in, first pitch, a wild one escobar comes home, phillies lose four but that is okay. The guys did show some grit. Were in range of coming back and you know the guys scrapped and right down to the last swing, and guy being played by first base man. They for the to the even. Phillies now threethree after taking on red sox and the nationals. Better than we expect, right. They are calling this a rebuilding year so young guys will get a chance to play and step up. Darren ruf is one of those guys. He is a power hitter on the roster but still trying to find his way to an every day line up. It is tough but at the same time you learn to, you know, respect the role you are in, to, you know, try to be as successful in that role as possible and, you know, it is a long season, stuff can change. Ruf is trying to change his position on this team. He is a situational player to every day starter. Phillies called this a rebuilding year. So this is the time for ruf to prove he can be an every day player and provide pop in the line up that just cant consistently hit. In 22 career starts, he had a ops of 848 but he is still finding himself struggling to get in the line up. But even a good performance doesnt come easy to him. Ryan said earlier in the spring training he looks at pitch their day and puts out best line up that he sees. Hopefully i can be part of the line up that he sees, you know, doing something well and winning a game at the even of the day. Not that day, i mean, that is fine too. He has been in and out of the line up since he has been there. Why not put him in there and see what he can do, on a consistent basis. The guy doesnt know when it is playing it is very difficult especially when he is playing better in the guys in front of him. I struggled with this last year. You just to have keep things the same. A a lot of time in the cage and a lot of time in the cage during game and reallies toy try on getaway from what makes you successful. You got to be able to bring all those thoughts in and be able to focus on what got you here. Todays homer was rufs first hit of the season. He has to do better than that to be a every day starter. To the masters tiger woodies back. He did better than we all expect. Rough day but finished five under for tournament. The real story is jordan spieth. Spieth, won the the masters. What a story this is. Finish 18 under, tied for tiger wood as best finish in masters history. Unbelievable. Tying der that back in 1997. A star may have just been born. Sound like it. All right.
