Nearly 4inches of snow has fallen already and theres plenty more to come. Road conditions as you can imagine are getting worse. We have Live Team Coverage of the impact of this snowstorm. But we will begin tonight with fox 29 meteorologist dave warren. Its a mess out there right now and its going get worse. Sure s only about halfway through this storm and as we watch the radar here this afternoon it was clear that i95 right through philadelphia would be the hardest hit and National Weather service now expanded the warning area to include areas in new jersey. 295 up through 95 up to the turnpike where the areas seeing getting heaviest snow. That is what is happening now. And the radar shows that we are still seeing the very heavy snow that is continuing to come down here through philadelphia, there was that heavy band but look at whats happening around baltimore washington, d. C. Bright white on the ultimate Doppler Radar indicates very heavy snow, but at the same time, this mixing line is putt pushing north so its a battleground here from philadelphia over the next few hours. Looks like the snow will win out. This heavy snow moves right up through philadelphia so an additional 4inches certainly is not out of the question here. Between 6 00 oclock and 8 00 oclock that heavy snow goes right up through 95. Theres the amounts coming down one to twenty fours per hour. Its not until about we got on city avenue butt bumper to bumper as well take a look. This is lancaster avenue in wynnewood. Traffic is moving but it is slow going. Well get a shot of the roads here for you. You can see just how gritty they are here along lancaster avenue and thats the theme around the area today. Weve also noticed quite a few snowplows have been out but their efforts have been few till as the snow continues to fall always lot of people and businesses here have been trying to shovel and clear away the parking lots. Theres a plow truck in the parking lot. Theres shoveling sidewalks. If you want to come back over here to me, take a look to the at the ground here. Youll see you cant tell theres sidewalk here. Clear it i was way and you can see how many inches nel a short amount of time. Lets see what people have to say that were surprised at what we got when they came out this morning. Not as good as i thought it would be. Theres lot of cars out there surprisingly. I didnt think there would be that many out. The roads are slick slippery. Havertown had a five car pile up. Hopefully it gets better by the time i leave. Its not too bad so far. Just enjoying it. Getting my coffee. Having fun in the snow. Little bit slow. Take your time and well do some sledding tomorrow. Actually the car had about 3. 5, 4inches. I just cleared it off and the red car is turning white. I didnt think it would be this much this quick. I thought it would be coming later. Reporter and back here live again at lancaster avenue and wynnewood we got another plow truck come through here. The roads again very gritty. You have to be careful. This is what they look like throughout the area. Weve been driving around earlier and again this is what youll deal with. You have to come out tonight and heres the thing dawn, you know, not many people were complaining about this because they say weve been talking about snow and talking about snow. Now you have it. Back to you. Exactly. Thanks, shawnette. Stay warm. Delaware county one of the hardest hit areas. Several inches already on the ground in ridley park and guess what, the snow is just not letting up. Fox 29s brad sattin is in media. Brad, i know you had a hard time getting there because the roads are in bad shape. Reporter dawn, we had this planned to shoot all kinds of video but literally we just got here a few minutes ago because of roads. We were along the schuylkill expressway. That was kind of slow going. But the real problem we ran into was on the blue route. Lets take you along the trip. We started around 3 54 at the springfield skit. We hit traffic it was really stop and go there. Vehicles off to the side of the road. And at times we saw people actually even getting out of the vehicles. Three or four trucks the plows were out. Never a good idea obviously to be jumping out of your vehicle on the interstate. But thats what people were forced to do to try to get their cars going. We were moving at about 5 miles an hour plenty of time to read the Winter Weather advisory signs. We were barely moving. Some vehicles actually were stopped and by 4 43 at that time we were 19 minutes into the ride and we had gone less than 2 miles. The blue route we were headed south on i95. We saw tractor trailer off to the side and another vehicle that totally spun out seemed to be the cause of the slow down and after that traffic seemed to be picking up okay again. But the bottom line is, by 4 38, we had gone 3. 5 miles 34 minutes in 3. 5 miles as we headed down the blue route. So its really slow going. In fact the back roads in order to get to mode ya here seemed a whole lot better than the interstate. Safe to say it was a pain in the butt to get here. Whats happening right now a lot of people are doing shoveling here in media theyre actually going to dinner, dogs are being walked and well have some of those pictures for you now that were here coming up in about 30 minutes. Joyce and dawn, back to you. All righty, brad, thanks so much. Well, looking live at Philadelphia International airport were told delays there are averaging an hour and a half. You had a feeling this was going to happen right. I had a feeling it was going to start at noon. Take your time on the roadways now. The temperatures are so cold. 32 is the magic number. Before that more snow is coming down and you can see where the heaviest snow is. By the visibility. Less than mile trenton through philadelphia and wilmington. The lower the visibility the heavier the snow. And certainly right along 95 these numbers are down. They could drop a bit as were expecting another period of heavy snow to move through as the temperatures are down below freezing it will all be snow before we see this rain snow line expected to push north across the entire area. It will dough so not before seeing this band of snow around washington and baltimore. Bright white on the ultimate Doppler Radar indicates heavier snow than whats coming down now now. It was like this earlier today. Were seeing a little break closer to philadelphia as that heavy snow pushes out. More will move in, though, but this color is changing getting a little closer. Notice its not a direct change to rain. We will see that mix of sleet and freezing rain before the temperature climbs above 32 degrees. These numbers so far showing you this caw you because were halfway through. 4inches in camden. About two to 4inches right through Delaware County drexel hill had 3inches and newark, delaware had 3. 5. Little farther north little less two. 2inches in jenn town. More snow expected so definitely watch the roadways. Slick out there. Warming up enough where some of the treatment cos actually try to work here as they treat add lot of the main roads but its still very slippery on the side roads and untreated surfaces. This heavy snow will move through. Thats where it is now and the computer forecast picks it up. Now, by 8 00 oclock still snowing in philadelphia and wilmington. But that line is pushing north. Thats the warm air coming up from the south. Temperatures will climb above freezing as we see that rain in Atlantic City and cape may. But still below freezing with all snow in philadelphia. By about eight nine, 10 00 oclock it changes over to a sleet or even freezing rain in the city still coming down as snow north and west. Temperatures will be key at this point. Even though its not snowing it still will be blowing freezing for period of time that will lead to sleet or freezing rain. By midnight tonight changing over as the temperatures try to climb up to the freezing mark in the city but still could be coming down as snow across the Lehigh Valley and allentown. But by tomorrow morning, it is done. The temperatures are warming up. It will either be ending as rain or not be coming down at all. All rain with the temperature climbing into the 40s tomorrow. And heres a little sunshine. Take advantage of this break. Because were not looking at warm temperatures to stick around for that long. Here are the cold temperatures. And talking about another arctic blast. Not until we warm up a bit though by 10 00 oclock tonight tonight. Right about freezing that could be the change over in the city but its above freezing to the south. Still into the 20s with snow coming down across the Lehigh Valley theres the number climbing to 34 by midnight. So the roads should be improving overnight tonight even if you do get a brief period of sleet or freezing rain 9 00 oclock everybody at or above freezing except for mount pocono and then climbing into the 40s at 2 00 oclock. Take advantage of this window though because look at whats happening in the seven day forecast. Theres some bitter cold arctic air. Another blast of cold air will come down by tuesday and wednesday of this coming week. So these numbers will climb. Temperatures will climb. Theyre not here yet. But they will be above freezing tonight. Until then, heavy snow continues. Then it will mix. That wind continues out of the south at 10 to 20 miles an hour. Clouds and then some sun tomorrow theres the 43 degrees. Nice break. Before we see that cold air coming in. The seven day forecast the 43 doesnt stick around for long because it drops to 21 with a cold arctic blast on monday. Tuesday a little less wind. Its very windy monday but less wind on tuesday. But a bitter cold morning. Nine for morning low tuesday. 26 in the afternoon. Not as cold on wednesday. The wind picks up gets cold again on thursday. Not really much in the way of precip here this coming week just some shots of cold air more than one of them by the end of this week 29 degrees, then climbing. Clouds are increasing next weekend. Keep a close eye on that one. 43 tomorrow is very bizarre. Nice change. Is that going to be enough to melt. It should melt because well have sunshine as well. Wow all right. I like that.
