Parents are protesting protesting the Walter PalmerCharter School as you we told you first on fox this end they got letter saying the middle school is closing as of december 31st. Its another in a string of let downs for parents of students at the Walter Palmer. The high school abruptly closed few months ago and the charter was forced to cut enrollment earlier this year. Reporter iain, a palmer grand parent told me she organized this emergency meeting with parents after seeing our story over the weekend. The question now for many parents with students who went to palmer school, they want to know what they will do now. Small but vocal group of parents held what they call a curve side meeting outside the Walter PalmerCharter School in northern liberties. They are angry palmer administrators decided to abruptly close the school over the holiday break. These parents plan on sending a message to the state department of education but they dont know where they will send their children in the meantime. Some of those students rallied too. So sad because i learned a lot here and im going to miss my teachers and my friends. When she first came here she was below average. Now she is performing on a proficient level. So that speaks for itself. No matter how you say its being diss managed these kids are learning. These kids are our future and thats the point of them going to this school. Reporter these parents also are sending this letter to the acting secretary of the Pennsylvania Department of education. They are asking for an emergency charter to be issue so that they have another school so they can send their kids to. Many parents say they dont want their kids going to public school. But the School District of philadelphia is saying that they will take in any displaced students if theyre parents want them to go to a public school. In fact, on wednesday they have a session enrollment session at the School District offices in Spring Garden from 10am until noon and they will have two more sessions as well.
