The big event has brought tens of thousands to our area just this week. So are all these delegates all of these visitors tens of thousands, right, spending some bigtime dough around here . Some told us the city did a better job with this event than with the pope, but whether theyre seeing any increased business, well that depend on whom you ask. President obama is in the house about to address the Democratic National convention in support of the candidate he beat eight years ago. Thats just ahead. applause . Stars the great white way evening that was cagne and laci stood together. They were sing wagon the world needs now is love sweet love. The audience many held hands you can see and broke out in chants. Then love trump hate. Lets go back outside the Wells Fargo Center now. Told you now protest right now some things are happening here. A couple hundred people right now. It was peaceful. We understand a few people have jumped and broken over the fence so you can see right now youve got some protesters out there police trying to keep things under control. Just up until about a few minuting a everything was peaceful. We told you we keep an eye on it and thats what weve done. You can see right now stay with us well bring any updates as soon as we get them inside the Wells Fargo Center. It looks like theyre trying to break through the police line right now. We do have crew down there on the scene and you can tell the protesters are trying to get to the other side. Police, though, just maintaining the line. As we said throughout this entire convention theyre not in riot gear. These guys theyre just in uniforms right now out there trying to protect the Democratic National convention. These protesters are trying to break through as you can see. This is happening just outside of the Wells Fargo Center. So security has been so incredibly tight. Theyre not getting through. They are not. Police done terrific job so far only reported five arrests so far. This is a little bit of violence here. Remember commissioner richard ross did mention if people did jump over the fence they would be under federal charges. They didnt want to arrest people they wanted to give them citations and give them leeway. They have a First Amendment right to protest but they did mention earlier that they would be charged federally if they got over that fence and that appears to be what some some of these people have done so far tonight. Did you hear what he just said . He says, he was mentioning Bernie Sanders and he says we are not violent. Were not violent. Were just trying to, you know, get our word out. Yeah. Thats fox reporter jeff lock who keeps jumping in the cameras are life as were just showing it to you. It look like order is pretty much been restored out there. I mean again for the most part has been peaceful. A few people broke through and he just mentioned some of these supporters saying hey we are not violent. We are peaceful. It looks like things are sort of getting back to normal out there right now. It had died down. That was the whole thing. A lot of you see people running behind the fence there again. So this is considered kind of federal property at this point in time. The feds have taken over. Theres secret service everywhere. Of course, all kinds of fbi agents as well. Theyve been doing all kinds of sweeps inside and outside of the Wells Fargo Center. I want to you take look right there. You see these are the bike cops on the screen. The bike cops as Philadelphia Police have said theyre the Rapid Response team so they get to place immediately and they try and quell a situation starting to get out of happened, and just keep anything from going anywhere south. Which is what they dont want. It looks like it was not going to happen this week until this perhaps like we mentioned only five arrests and we got to keep telling you president barack obama set to take the stage inside the Wells Fargo Center in maybe four or five minutes. All this is happening outside of the Wells Fargo Center right n now. Protest that is had been peaceful up until foments ago and again there have been so many police here this week certainly out numbering these protesters and it has been mostly peace. Lets see if we can hear what fox reporter is saying. Began running. I dont know what has become of them. Suddenly some of the Police Officers on the april side pursuing them. But this was not the Bernie Sanders supporters. These people i dont know where they came from. We were listening in for l bit to the fox reporter saying these are not the Bernie Sanders reporter supporters. Hes talking to guy that looks half naked. Whats interesting is the president ial motorcade pulls up to the Wells Fargo Center ge getting through crowds like this and then his entourage brings him in here. As hes about to take the stage calling for unity, calling for everybody to be able to come together, this is happening outside. So theres die cot tommy of whats inside versus outside are the now. Absolutely. Again you can hear some people out there chanting now. Sort of yelling, but it locks like for the most part this is gotten somewhat under control from what happened just a few minutes ago. But well, i cant see who that is. Any way, but again the reporter on the ground mentioned these are not the these are not the Bernie Sanders protesters. He said he wasnt sure where they even came from. Materialized out of the blue. Of course, we had a lot of groups that protested here. Tremendous amount. Police commissioner mentioned they do have right to peacefully protest and they want to mack shower they allow that right but they dont want things to get violent went dont wanting to looking for fight and certainly has been pretty good up until this point tonight. Quited down. Thats the whole they know. We saw really big crowds the first two days much third day of the convention of course the crowds were smaller some people said thought the heat zapped the energy of the protesters. Who knows . Maybe so, maybe not. Our Dave Schratwieser is actually headed to the zen right now. So hell get to the bottom of it right now, and be able to tell us what he hears going on and maybe who these people are not that i want to give any glory to what these guys are doing. I really dont care about their name. Ooh just hoping everybody stays safe out there. Exercise your first am the rights but dont hurt anybody in the process thats not exercise your First Amendment right. All right. Well go to the break right now. When we come back, president barack obama may just be on the stage. Live at the Wells Fargo Center, this is the scene outside in south philly. Back in a moment. Right across the street from the mayhem day three of eagles Training Camp was a little different today. The veterans had that joined the rookies were given the day off. No sam bradford. No chase daniel on the field. Carson wentz got lot more works. Fans are happy about that. Eagles running back Ryan Matthews not a good sign. Hurt again. Place the on the active nonfootball injury list thats because he was working out on his own when he got hurt last week. His anklely right now that might put more emphasis on rookie running back wendell small dra drafted in the fifth round by the eagles much thats more time for small wood and head coach taken a hands on interest in smallwood. Its a real surprise just knowing how certain head coaches is and being around doug and hes just like a regular coach to me. He coaches me up. He doesnt kind of push me at the side. Treats everybody the same. Gives me the attention i need. He came back ready to go in great frame of mind and, um, you know, hes going to put himself in position im hoping to help us this season. I think hes that good. The gang is all here. Vets are in. They came in today. New year but many of the same players are back. The approach is different this year. Chip kelly kept the team out of pads many of the practices. Doug pederson will have a different approach. Any time you got change coming in and whatnot you got to set the tone and, um, obviously we got lot of new pieces. Coaches and players. So, um, fiscal will the separate the men from the boys. High expectations. There shouldnt be a fall out. The word building. I dont think row building should be close to this team. We we got solid defense and we got defense you can go out and win games. Offense has to go out there and execute. Interesting hat from jason kelce. The phillies look like a team ready for the season to end. Its unfair to depend on the pitchers to pitch well every night. It was ugly today. Lets go to miami and take lock. First inning phillies down one to nothing. Watch the pitcher duck. Zach evelyn jianne Carlos Stanton hit it so hard two run homer the pitcher duck. Phillies go on to lose it, 11one. They move on to at hasnt at a. Lets head back to iain and lu lucy. They are still and theyll be here for while at the Wells Fargo Center. Another day aft today.
