guarded cash logistics says he couldn't speak about the crime itself but says all their armored cars are manned by two employees, a driver and messenger. we've only seen one man speaking with detectives, otherwise standing alone inside the police tape. two hours later and several blocks from the crime scene police found this abandoned minivan. the one police say the gunmen were seen in speeding away from the robbery. its doors ropp, lights o engine still running. but the men are gone. apparently nobody was hurt during the robbery. the cvs was reopened after about an hour. police are said to be speaking with witnesses and continued their questioning of the man who was victimized. doing his job, transferring cash to and from retail businesses in this case a busy pharmacy at a rhode island avenue shopping center. the armored car is still here. we're not sure whether any of the gunmen got inside the truck but police have been taking pictures inside of it. part of their ongoing but were outgunned by the owner, sandro vendemmia says that the men asked to see rings and put a gun to his face. they smashed the jewelry case, hit the 76-year-old owner with a bb gun but san dro did not give up. >> i was held up by two guys. they jumped me with a gun. i don't know if it was real or not, but you know, so i reach for my gun and i shoot a couple times and then they throw the case on my face. >> the suspects took off leaving a trail of blood behind. police believe at least one may have been hit by the gunfire. let's take to to capital hill. goe on the hot seat. senators called that got heated. some senators on the attack saying it's an unfair conflict. goe would sell financial products and bet against them and then not tell the buyers. it resulted in a government civil fraud charge earlier this month but five current and two former goldman officials held their ground in hours of testimony. they denied any wrong doing and said goldman works within the legal product she's promoting is born from a dallas based technology company. it's called cell safety. once the application is downloaded to a cell phone it disabled texting capabilities while in a vehicle going faster than 10 miles per hour. text messages cannot be sent or received until the vehicle stops. >> it is currently in a moving vehicle and text messaging is blocked. >> reporter: some think the technology is a good idea for adults as well. >> even if you think to go to do it you're reminded instantly, so it's just a reinforcement to not text and drive. >> i think it will work. i mean, i think it's a great idea for kids and actually for anybody that texts. >> reporter: woods thinks using this kind of technology early on could curb future bad habits. >> i think once the kids get this, and are used to having it and know this is what's going to happen that's exactly what will happen. they'll have to go text, i'm pulling over. >> reporter: during the demonstration we actually had to stop and wait about 90 seconds for the texting function to start working again. this product only works with gps enabled offenses. it's not the only product of its kind on the market but this one county, montgomery and howard county. and most points to the north and west. it begins at 2:00 in the morning and goes until 9:00 in the morning because temperatures could be dropping into the mid-30s in those areas. it may be upper 20s in the mountains. they've got a freeze warning up out there. but growing season just getting going there. 52 in d. d.c. gaithersburg back down to 43. lots of places in the 40s and we've got clouds down here. as the clouds clear out and winds get lighter we'll continue to see temperatures drop as the air is very dry. perhaps you notice it in your house getting that static electricity shock here and there. a chilly night ahead as suburbs drop to the mid-30s. maybe even as cool as 34 degrees in winchester and german town. chantilly you'll get to 37. near water, 38. columbia, 35, with a frost advisory and d.c. coming in with an expected low of 41 degrees. after our high temperature today of 65. so not bad. but it was a little bit on the cloudy side. but heat is coming. we're showing you the high temperatures across the nation and starting to see it warm-up in places like dallas. check out the 95 they got to in phoenix today. 74 in del rio and 66 in st. louis. one more day in the 60s and we expect to see things warming up a lot. the breeze will be back. we're still under the influence of that low pressure that brought us the thunderstorms yesterday. it also continued to bring winds and cold air aloft over us today. it will be close enough tomorrow that it will still be able to do that. so a bit of a breeze but good sunshine. what we will watch, though, apps the days go by is for warmer air to start getting closer on the weather map. the leading edge will be showing up on our weather maps tomorrow and by thursday, we're up to 70
