Apparently attacked inside her home. Darcy spencer is live in Capitol Heights tonight where police were canvassing the neighborhood this afternoon. Reporter i was able to talk to several maybes here in this community today. They all tell me that the victim was a nice woman. She was a kind woman. She lived right here in this house. She had trouble walking so she used a ramp here, and all these neighbors are struggling to understand how and why someone could kill her. We all look out for each other here in this neighborhood. I have been here ten years, and i have never heard anything like this happening before. Reporter this woman brought to tears as she talked about the death of her neighbor, Geraldine Joyce mcintyre. The disabled woman lived for 71 years. That life came to a tragic end saturday. Thats when police found her hurt in her Capitol Heights home. She died at a hospital later that day. Scary to not be comfortable where you live. And to know that it could happen so close. I feel sorry for the family. Reporter today Prince Georges County homicide detectives returned to chapel oaks drive. Theyre handing out flyers trying to get information, trying to figure out who would kill this elderly woman and why. Its heartless people today and i cant imagine who would do Something Like that or why. Reporter police say they got a call saturday to check on mcintyre and thats when they found her. They say she had trauma to her body, but theyre not saying exactly how she was killed. At this time thats under investigation as to whether there was any forced entry or whether, you know, the incident took place in the home, whether that person was let in or what it could possibly be. Reporter neighbors tell me mcintyre lived her with her daughter and theyre both disabled. And thats why theres a ramp here at their home. I dont like to lock my doors all the time, and now i feel i have to lock them day and night. Reporter and we heard that from several residents here this afternoon, particularly women who are now concerned about their safety. This is one of the flyers. Health care workers are having issues getting to patients who are confined to their homes, and people are still unable to drive on roads to get groceries and to get to work.
