afternoon and mid-50s by 6:00 p.m. a lot of clouds and rain chances here stacked up into the front half of the day. look at all the tornado reports yesterday. 95 tornado reports. the all-time record for tornadoes in a single outbreak for the mothnth of march was in 2006. the number that day was 74. if all 95 of those turn out to be real tornadoes, that will be the largest march tornado outbreak in u.s. history. for now all the heavy weather is headed toward southern georgia and the coastal carolinas. norfolk, virginia, virginia beach on to the outer banks this morning. for us, most moderate rain up across the great state of maryland. northern montgomery county. and a couple more sprinkles toward charlottesville. we won't be completely done with our rain chances until 10:00, 11:00, maybe noonish today. then things will start to improve. the weather front will be the end of the rain but the beginning of the wind. a breezy afternoon. you folks in the higher terrain north and west of today's high near 60. tomorrow's highs near 50 for your sunday. and then a chance of what will probably be some snowflakes around here on monday. maybe some raindrops mixed in as well. we're not talking about amounts of snow. we're talking about snow to look at out the window. the road conditions and everything fairly warm. we're not worried about a big snow event but, snow, it's all we've got to talk about. >> you sound like a broken record every weekend. we're not waiting for another snow event. just push it off to next year. >> i'm pulling for something. >> okay. >> spring is already i can't believe i'm hosting "saturday night live" for the third time. >> that was back in 2006. there's been a lot of water under and over the bridge since then for lindsay lohan. but now -- >> lohan is back in the studio after prodding snl honcho loren michaels. >> i was e-mailing him and harassing him to meet with me to let me do the show. >> reporter: now the actress who has been the occasional target of the show's humor, including this sketch in 2010 with emma stone will now be on hand herself for the fun and games. >> if i'm going to do, you know, a sketch about x or y, this is the place to do it. i think snl kind sufficient where you actually are okay to do that. i want to poke fun at myself. >> mindful of the wealth of material her life might provide the show's writers, she did check on what maybe should stay off limits. >> i spoke with my attorney and asked her. i didn't want to be disrespectful to my judge or anything. and she's been really wonderful to me and helped me a lot. >> lindsay lohan, everybody. >> late night with jimmy fallon has been part of her nbc tour this week. as the 25-year-old talks about rebooting her career. >> it's just a process. i'm willing to welcome back, everyone. with gas prices soaring, every penny counts. but how do you know you are getting what you pay for? >> the news 4 i-team is on the job to answer that question. tairb thompson finds out who is watching out for you. >> reporter: think you are watching every penny at the pump these days? >> many, many. probably thousands. >> reporter: you've got nothing on elizabeth conkey. every day she's on the road inspecting gas stations in maryland. >> all inspections are unannounced. >> reporter: for the state's department of agriculture. and, boy, can she stop the meter on a dime, or in this case, a penny. >> my greatest job skill is being able to stop exactly at five gallons and ten gallons. >> to make sure customers aren't getting short changed she uses these specially calibrated containers. they look a lot like milk jugs. she makes her each pump stays and starts on zero for 30 seconds. >> i pump until this says 5 gallons and then read how much was actually dispensed. >> if the pump disspences too little or too much she, can shut it down. >> i do find errors. >> meters that keep rolling after you stop filling up can also put a pump out of commission. >> we'd like to check them once every year, but due to so many pumps versus so many inspectors, it's once every two years. >> we're here now because i just had another child and gas prices are going up. >> reporter: kevin jones called the news 4 i-team after seeing inconsistencies at the pump with his new car. >> you are getting, you know, 23 in the 20 gallon tank. you have to wonder. >> he's had the same issue with his motorcycle. a ten-gallon tank that seems to hold 12 gallons of gas? >> with it being a machine it could be that it's not calibrated or it's just off. >> to find out how often a pump is cited, the news 4 i-team dug through hundreds of maryland's most recent inspections. in just montgomery and prince george's counts alone, 57% of stations had to be reinspected for different kinds of violations. most were for small technical issues. but 12% were cited for shortchanging customers. one of the worst, a rockville station, shorted drivers by almost two gallons. but it's not always bad for the driver. 16% were cited for giving more gas away than the pump showed. >> that's acceptable. that's approved. >> reporter: back in montgomery, no problems with these pumps. they each get the orange sticker of approval which customers should always look for when filling up. >> now i am going to give the station their gas back. >> unlike you and me. when she's done filling up, the gas goes back because now more than ever, every drop is worth a bundle. we went through hundreds of pages of gas station inspection reports. this is just fairfax county. we took everything in here and
