extension up. so we're not sure yet as far as where those attention were headed. the lufthansa passengers were headed to frankfurt, germany, but the express plane, we don't know where those passengers were headed, and what the time exchange is going to be, whether or not those passengers that were originally intended for germany will be able to make that flight, if they have to get an entirely new to figure out who killed a soccer player from our area. he was found dead in an suv in california, but it's not yet clear what he was doing out there. news4's richard jordan is in our newsroom with what investigators know so far. >> the victim was a father of six. police say he drove all the way to california. shortly after arriving, he was brutally killed, but no one knows why. 45-year-old dwight henri lived most of his adult live in laurel, maryland, but california police say he took his last breath outside los angeles. the jamaican native found debt in the backseat of a white chevy blazer in an l.a. county parking lot in may. police say he was not shot or stabbed. instead, a violent struggle led to his suspicious death. now henri's 10-month-old daughter will get get to know her daughter. his family fears they may never know the truth unless someone steps up. >> anyone who has any information, can shed light on this evil, this wicked act, we are asking you to just come forward. >> reporter: henri, an avid soccer player, was well known on the field. the l.a. officers are hoping a teammate or friend may know why he was in california. >> the trip has been worth while. we've obtained some information. wee still looking for folks who we know do know him, but haven't come forward yet. >> reporter: the family is grateful l.a. investigators have traveled cross-country looking for clues. >> we just have a feeling that somebody knows. >> but the grieving relatives believe the information to solve the murder is a phone call away. >> all we were asking, from the public 11:00 this morning. he was playing outside with a 7-year-old. the gun went off in the younger boy's hands, hitting him in the chest. he was rushed to the hospital, in stable condition. the 7-year-old wasn't hurt. no word if any charges will be filed. d.c. police need the public's help after a man approached a couple young boys in different occasions. he was offering tutoring services to boys. the second case, august ke6, someone complained that a neighbor in mt. pleasant had child pornography. a day later, police say a naked man mate overtures to kids in a swimming pool locker room. on wednesday, a boy told police a manny a blue chevy offered him a ride. police say they have identified a suspect, one man, but they need more information. we're convinced they are connected. we have information in our investigation to know at least that the three later events are connected, and involve the same person. >> d.c. police say there may be more cases that haven't been reported. they're asking anyone with information to give them a call. today hundreds gathered to honor the six worshippers killed in the attack at a sikh temple last weekend. the gunman was michael page, reportedly a member of a violent skinhead group. page killed himself after shootings on the scene. despite the tragedy, today's huge turnout was a sign of unity in this shattered communities. >> we are united today not only by a shared sense of loss, but also by a common belief in the healing power of faith. tonight dozens of people here will hold a candlelight memorial here in silver spring. mitt romney destroyed most of the mount pleasant baptist church early this morning, as megan mcgrath reports, church members say divine intervention saved precious items. >> reporter: church leaders say it's the lord's work. two bibles survived intact, while the flames burned everything else. >> you can't change god's word. >> reporter: while their faith is intact, this is an emotional morning, as news of the only 81 in martins burg, only 84 in culpepper. the warmest spot is 87 in annapolis. we need that heat in order to produce the strong thunderstorms. without the heat, without all that sunshine, we don't have that threat. we still have them out there, though. this is up towards berkeley county, right around haguerstown, so get ready in your area. more stormyness back towards the west, but notice a not a lot is going on out here. right just to the west of hag hagerstown. be be some hail, and what's going on around the rest of the area. still a lot of storms to go, so we're not done just yet, but i still don't think we'll see that scattering of large severe storms like we were talking about yet. where they are seeing that, the storms that came through our area this morning, about 1 to 2 inches of rain. that has moved up toward the northeast. boston, this area until a tornado watch. there's a tornado warning just to the north of hartford, can be can be. look at this spin in the atmosphere. this is amazing. nothing yet as far as a confirmed tornado, but they had a tornado warning around the hartford area. they are getting hard. fortunately for us, we are not. this provided us with the cloud cover, and now we're seeing some sunshine, but that's really about it. the storms trying to develop, and it will take some time to do so. so a bit of a stormy evening. if you do go out, make sure you take your umbrella with you. we're going to see or frontal boundary. slight chance of showers and storms. most likely in toward southern maryland, along the eastern shore. if you're heading toward the beaches, i think a good chance to see some strong storms. during the day tomorrow, maybe even on sunday, but right now sunday is looking pretty nice, with plenty of sunshine and temperatures 80s still. some will be strong with heavy rain, the most likely threat here, so once again we'll -- as we move on through the next couple days, not bad on your sundays. sunday looking threatening to shoot up a government office building in his words batman-style. james armstead we're told called the anne arundel county child support office, threatening to kill employees and himself and mentioned a batman-style shooting. he was arrested at his home today, and he's being held on a $60,000 bond. a former master planning for prince george's county was among the victims of a suicide bombing in afghanistan this week. he was a foreign service officer at the u.s. agency for international development. he was killed on wednesday in eastern kunar province. abdel fatah was a naturalized resident. he was so committed to the u.s. commission in afghanistan, that he volunteered for a second year of service. here at home, state senators in maryland are spending their second day of governor o'malley's special session debate ago measure to expand gambling in the state. we have more on the progress senators made today. >> reporter: day 2 of the special session on the maryland gambling bill saw debate on the senate floor at that body's budget and tax committee passed it on thursday. a number of amendments were floated, such as a republican-backed effort to do away with the bill's ban on political contributions. that was among the defeated amendments. the republican leader is among those who is not fond of being here like this. >> this is a horrible process to make public policy in. it's rushed, it's pressure-filled. people are cutting deals, because they know the powers that be wand to get this done at all costs and get people out of here. it's a bad way to make sausage. >> we have work to do, and the how will do its work. and we'll see where it goes from there. >> i've been opposed to gambling since 2002. the citizens of the state have overridden my opinion, and that's why we're here where we are now. >> reporter: he is still undecided how he will ultimately vote. as the bill got a hearing before the house ways and means committee, more concerned over the hold harmless clause. at existing gaming facilities as new ones in baltimore and prince george's county would open. there was a showing up opponents, and the concept of more gaming in prince george's county all together, but the leg has cleared its first hurdle. >> we passed the resolution back in 2011 when i first got there that said whatever we do, make sure we sent it to the voters and we support that effort. >> derrick ward reporting that metro seems to be getting more mysterious about the mystery rider program. according to "the washington examiner" the transit agency refuses to disclose the findings. metro is paying $252,000 for the undercover assessment of its service. that money comes from commuter fares and taxpayer dollars, but the transit agency denied a public records request from the examiner this week. the newspaper has filed an appeal. if you plan on teak metro this weekend, you may want to allow extra time. track work will set you back as much as a half hour on the red line both the medical center and bethesda stations will be closed. free shuttle buses will operate from the grosvenor and strath more stations, on the oranges, single track from clarendon and foggy bottom as well as stadium armory and schefferly, on the blue line, trains will share tracks between foggy bottom and arlington cemetery. a montgomery county council member is fed up with pepco's washington region caused many mills onin damages. power outages outrage, and they're taking their anger out in a series of public meetings. >> i will be installing a generator, because pepco is so unreliable. >> reporter: many citizens wand tougher regulations. some say they may favor taking over the utility business it on the 885 politics hour, council men hans reamer. >> i support that. it would save residents tens of millions a year that today is being diverted to shareholders. the problem is it would most likely require legislation through the entire state legislature, not just a local bill, so that would mean the leadership in the senate and house would block it. >> reporter: he says citizens shouldn't just be angry at pepco, but statewide officials and legislature that are too easy on the utilities. we have to get clear commitments from people who want to be gompor, lieutenant governor, attorney general, legislators. across the board we have to keep the pressure on. >> pepco officials contend they have stepped up their storm preparation and prevention efforts. they say they are making progress and limiting future power outages, speeding up their response to the ones
