Time to turn to dave murphy talk about a humid and maybe stormy day. Yeah, somewhat on both counts. Storm tracker6 live double scan shows us most of the area is dry right now but there are a couple of little showers breaking up or breaking out in south jersey and theres another one to the west of dover. You see that one just popping up as it crosses into the delaware border. That one up north has been in and out of play. Still like its producing maybe a five or 10 minute heavy downpour and that is moving into northern Cumberland County and probably crossing areas just to the south of elmer. Could be over route 55 in about 25 minutes or so much as we take a look outside we have cloudy skies with some sun trying to breakthroughs over the ben franklin bridge and it is warm and muggy this morning. Current temperature 72 degrees in philadelphia and your dewpoints are up a little higher from where they were this time yesterday. 68. Thats getting pretty close to that 70degree thresholds for when we Start Talking about oppressive humidity. Winds southsoutheast at 6 miles per hour. Not a lot going on out there during the morning hours. As we get up to about lunchtime theres a chance in this humid unstable air mass with a cold front out to the west of starting to pop some drenching downpour producing showers and perhaps thunderstorms. Lin more of that off and on up to 5 oclock and then later after the sun goes down well start to see this activity begin to fall apart. Convective instability that the warm sunshine causes just isnt in play any more after sun down. Lightning is possible from any storms that form today as well as heavy downpours. Theres even an outside chance of some strong gusty winds so as usual if you hear thunder later today or tonight head indoors lower floors just in case you get a strong guy. 72 degrees by 8 oclock. 79 by 10 oclock. Muggy this morning but manageable temperatures. Later on it does get hot, though. A high of 87 degrees by 3 oclock and there is that chance of a spotty thunderstorm. Not everybody sees them today but those that do could get thumped with a pretty good hit of rain. 87 degrees in allentown, 88 in reading, 87 in philadelphia. Pretty warm in millville and toms river. Down the shore low 80s in some spots. Taking a closer look at the shore you can see 75 in the ocean water and beach temperatures low to mid 80s. U. V. Index running moderate. I would recommend sunscreen of course. 72 in the ocean off of delaware and mid 80s on the beach. For union tonight, its a european friendly against central excuse me, Crystal Palace from the english premiere league. The start temperature is 81. Finish is 78. Hopefully thunderstorms miss the stadium. And it will be muggy. So nterms of humidity, today we are expecting to get up into the 70s with those dewpoints and more of the same tomorrow afternoon maybe even a little bit worse and with higher temperatures tomorrow its going to be excessive heat and humidity. Probably would have it today except that the temperatures just arent as hot. 87 degrees is todays high, warm sticky, thunderstorms around. Tomorrow excessive heat warning kicks in in the afternoon. Its going to feel like its over 100 degrees at times with a high of 94 and again strong thunderstorms are possible. Friday probably dry overall but a high of 95. Still very humid and we still have that excessive heat warning with heat index values up around 100 or so. Saturday 89, not as hot. Moderately muggy and then sunday 91, again a little on the hot side, moderately muggy and maybe a popup sunday storm. Thats the way it is until late august. Off and on anyway, yeah. Thanks, david. Storm tracker6 shows were dry in most areas although there is a little bit of a shower down south of philadelphia and one of these is now getting very close to route 55 just to the south of glassboro and to the north of millville. There you see it beginning to touch that highway. And theres a second shower south of smyrna, delaware, kind of pushing in the direction of dover but that one really looks like its falling apart. Otherwise, we are dry and waiting on some more thunderstorms and showers later this afternoon. Taking a look outside, we have cloudy skies with some sunny breaks over the Commodore Barry bridge. And it is warm and muggy out there this morning. 72 is your current temperature in philadelphia. The dewpoint up at 68. Thats the higher number than yesterday. And anything over 60 is considered humid. Once you get to 70 youre starting to talk about oppressive humidity. Were headed in that direction later this afternoon. Winds out of the southsoutheast at 6 miles per hour. Future tracker six handling the rain and it looks like were dry through most of the morning but late in the morning up until about lunchtime theres the chance of some showers and perhaps some thunderstorms developing to the south and west of philadelphia. Then we go through the afternoon and its spotty activity but every now and then the model is suggesting a drenching downpour and perhaps a little gusty wind out ahead of that. Then we get past dinnertime and past sundown and the convective instability that you get when the sun is up in an air mass like this starts to disappear after sundown and well probably see those showers start to at the time of this accident appear as well. If you see a thunderstorm at a, yes, it will be spotty but you could see lightning definite possibility of downpours and moderate chance. Were in the 70s through the morning but the 80s this afternoon. A high of 87. I know you see that spotty thunderstorm chance through the afternoon hours. High temperatures across the region toasty. Humid, 87 in allentown, 88 in reading, 86 in wilmington, 85 in trenton. Down the shore 82 in cape may, new jersey and about 84 up the coast in Atlantic City. 75 in the ocean water. U. V. Index moderate with that clouds and sun mix. 72 in the ocean off of delaware beaches like Bethany Beach and rehoboth. Union playing at home against Crystal Palace. Hopefully one of those spotty thunderstorms millions the stadium. Later this afternoon we are likely going to be at 70s or better in most neighborhoods. Fast forward to tomorrow maybe a degree or two worse at times during the day with that dewpoint but the temperature is also going to be hotter and thats why tomorrow and friday youre not only having the high humidity but you have excessive heat and that excessive heat watch in play. Very warm and sticky today, 87 degrees. Tomorrow similar humidity levels, very sticky but a hotter high of 94 and thats going to combine to give us heat index values of over 100 in some spots, especially urban centers tomorrow. More of the same on friday. Still oppressive heat and humidity with a high of 95. By the way a couple of drenching thunderstorms at a and an even better chance of a couple of strong thunderstorms around on thursday. Fridays probably dry. Then we get into the weekend. Partly sunny and very warm and still moderately humid on saturday, a high of 89 degrees. And then on sunday theres a southern feature that might be close fluff to givclose fluff tp up shower. 91, moderate humidity not pop sieve but sticky this weekend. 6 40a community on guard.
