Thats along the coastline aline of downpours that moved through our area and were at a slight risk for Severe Weather to areas north and west later today. So, its in the Lehigh Valley where you have the better chance of seeing strong storms later on, even though right now were talking about downpours along the coastline. Look at these temperatures. In some spots its 16 degrees warmer than it was yesterday morning. It feels horribly humid out here. 72 trees right now in philadelphia 72 degrees right now in philadelphia and reading, 70 in Atlantic City. Today is a bad layer day. The humidity is way up there feeling oppressive. The dewpoints are going to be over 70 degrees which just means oppressive humidity for all of us today. And any time you have that kind of humidity, its easy to get a popup shower or a downpour. Thats what were going to see at any point. Although i think it gets most active later this evening at any point we can get a popup storm or a downpour. By 8 00 a. M. , 74 degrees. By 10 00 a. M. , were at 76. I think much of the late morning early afternoon we may get a little bit of a lull where we just have lots of clouds, maybe a peek of sunshine, if that. By lunchtime 79. But we really start to fire things up even more so late in the afternoon and evening. By 3 00 p. M. , 82. Your high is 83. By 6 00 p. M. , it will be storming through the area and 76 degrees. So this is southbound near business one, old lincoln highway. Garbage truck fire sparked at about 4 30 this morning but you can see theres still smoke coming from that truck and coming from the garbage now. Fire and police crews remain on the scene. At this point both lanes on the superhighway are opened to traffic. My concern is for gaper delays. People headed southbound slowing down to see whats going on on the right side. So, i think you might find delays as the morning progresses. 95 southbound may be a better bet than the southbound superhighway route one this morning. In Fairmount Park on lincoln drive theres a crash reportedly a downed tree as well by rittenhouse street. I want to come i would come down schoolhouse lane as an alternate. Vine street expressway weve been seeing some heavy volume from time to time westbound approaching the schuylkill. Doesnt look too bad at the moment and those hearty construction crews did work overnight despite the rain. However, theyre long gone now but theyll return tonight at 11 oclock. Here on 95 southbound side just started to tap the brakes approaching cottman, again farther south approaching girard. Nothing were not used to on 95. There is a crash in tell ran along 130 southbound near the mckee ds and one where a vehicle ran off a roadway in Galloway Township along the garden state parkway northbound past the ac service area. Breaking this morning, ultra low gas prices in new jersey may be a thing of the past in just days. Lawmakers passed sweeping legislation this morning to raise the States Gasoline tax by 23 cents per gallon. Action News ReporterAnnie Mccormick is live in Pennsauken Camden county. Annie. Reporter matt, this isnt a done deal yet. This would only happen if the senate also passes this piece of legislation. In this legislation it means that the gas prices would go up 23 cents per gallon. It would also mean that the state sales tax would drop. Now, this is all for transportation funded, must needed transportation funding in the state. They want it to ideally bailed 2 billion a year pot. Now, the legislation would cut the states sales tax from 7 percent to 6 percent gradually over two years starting in january. The democratic led assembly with support from governor christie approved a plan at 1 00 a. M. This morning saying the sales tax cuts would put more money in residents pockets. Its estimated the sales tax cut will cost the state 1. 3 billion in revenue and the gas tax increase will bring in roughly the same amount. Opponents say the state cant afford to cut sales tax that much. We checked in with a number of drivers both from new jersey and pennsylvania to hear their thoughts. It will impact the daily driver, you know. Price of gas its been so low its been great but, you know, now were back to the same, you know when i am in jersey i to get gas over here because it is a lot cheaper. Still its going to be cheaper than pennsy but im not going to make a special trip just to get gas. Gas goes up everybody will be scuffling again. Reporter theyre also lowering the sales tax from 7 percent to 6 percent over a period of two years. Does that make any difference for you. I dont think so. Its too much. And happening today, furniture giant ikea is expected to announce a huge recall on millions of its dressers due to a safety issue ikea says the malm chest can tip over if theyre not fastened to the wall. The recall follows the deaths of three toddlers in three years including a twoyearold west chester boy Curran Collas. Near Levittown Christian Church theyre still doing that accident investigation along Frosty Hollow road. I would stick with trenton road or new falls road as an some alternates. Crasnew construction got under way yesterday. Its water main work in Prospect Park delco closing 13th avenue 9 00 until 3 00 during the mid days. Macdade boulevard or 13 chester pike would be some good alternates. Its along the northbound side just north of the ac service area and its mostly confined to the shoulder but watch out for that. An example of what can can lap if you go too fast on those really wet road surfaces. Now in Maurice River township getting word of a downed tree reportedly blocking 49 both ways just west of hunters mill road. Well and watching there. Well give you an alternate coming up in a few minutes. Its dry here on 42 in Camden County but the volume is starting to build on the northbound side headed towards 295. Still have the crash in delran along 130 southbound past fairview street by the mcdonalds and now in Mercer County were getting word of one on the ramp from 295 northbound to route one northbound, so well also be keeping tabs on that. This is route one in bucks county. The superhighway southbound where we are starting to see a slowdown now because of the garbage truck fire still off here on the feeder ramp to timber lane so this is southbound near business one old lincoln highway. I think id stick with 95 southbound instead this morning and in Montgomery County a new crash is coming in along forty foot road, some injuries there. So emergency crews are responding on this tuesday morning. Tam. Okay, thank you, matt. We begin with breaking news in bucks county. At least one person was killed in a twocar collision. It happened around 12 30 overnight at the Frosty Hollow road and Upper Orchard road in middletown township. Police say one car was attempting to make a turn when it ended up being tboned by a second vehicle. One driver died at the hospital and the second motorist is now listed in critical can condition. And happening today ikea will make a recall announcement regarding millions avenue popular model of dressers. The company says its malm dressers posed a potentially deadly risk to children. Action News ReporterKatherine Scott is live outside the ikea in plymouth township Montgomery County. Katherine really important a lot of families buy these models to go in their kids room. Reporter they do. Theyre low cost, theyre very popular so you definitely want to take a look and see if you bought them and they have been on the shelves for years now. So, something you could have, you might even have for got 10 that you v millions of dressers and chests are being recalled over these safety concerns from ikea. And here in the plymouth township store models have already been pulled from displays and the models blamed for the deaths of three Young Children have been puddles from the web site. The official announcement is expected today. More than 29 million sets of drawers from ikea are being recalled. The concern is regarding tipover safety after the deaths of three toddlers in three years. Twoyearold Curran Collas from west chester died in 2014 after an ikea malm six drawer dresser tipped over and pinned him against a bed. In 2015, the Consumer ProductSafety Commission announced the recall of the malm chest. But at the time customers were told to install a wall anchoring repair kit and told not to return the drawers. In a Statement Released to action news, ikea stated they distributed 300,000 of those repair kits but said we are announcing this recall today given the recent tragic death of a third child. It is clear there are still unsecured products in customers homes and we believe taking further action is the right thing to do. The third child was 22 month old ted mcgee from minnesota who was found beneath a malm dresser in february. When action news checked, the malm chest had been removed from in store displays and the plymouth township location self serve furniture warehouse. Ikea says they plan to work with the Consumer ProductSafety Commission on tipover protection and enhanced safety on all of their drawers and dressers. Ikea is expected to offer customers full refunds in most cases on some of the older models you could get store credit but again the official announcement comes later on today so we to expect to hear more details then. Police say marcus forte met the 13yearold victim when he worked in the i. T. Department at gwyneddmercy academy. Officials in horsham township Montgomery County say the Water Quality there is improving. Police found the 23yearold victim shot several time at eighth and van buren streets just before 1 oclock in the morning. He was able to run to that location before he collapsed. The handling of a Sexual Assault case on an American College campus is coming under fire again. A judge gave a former Indiana University student who was charged with two rapes a plea deal. John enoch pleaded guilty to lesser charges and was sentenced to a year probation. The countys prosecutor has responded to criticism saying the case was complicated and added there was a lack of evidence plus the two allegations were unrelated and happened years apart.
