Satellite shows that you were mainly clear, there is a little bit of a sweep of cloud cover trying to work its way up from washington into philadelphia but generally speaking it looks like a pretty bright morning once we get past sunrise. 20 degrees right now philadelphia, though. 15 in allentown, 15 in reading. 20 in millville and if you happen to be standing in the wind, which is running somewhere in the 10 to 15 Miles Per Hour range it makes it feel like its 7 degrees in philadelphia, so definitely bundle up with all that extra gear. A 6degree wind chill in allentown, three in reading six in wilmington, seven in trenton and 12 down the shore in wildwood. And we have an issue with some patchy black ice around the region as well this morning. Were especially concerned with parking lots, driveways and sidewalks but you might find some of this on roadways as well anywhere where yesterdays moisture didnt have a chance to dry out before the temperatures dropped below the freezing mark. 20 degrees by 9 oclock, 24 by noon. Your high today at 3 oclock is 29 degrees but even then youll have wind chill in the low 20s. Karen rogers youre on the lookout for ice. Looks like most of the main roads are okay, though, right . I think the strong winds really did a good job in helping to dry out the roads but david is right anything that looks like a puddle is frozen over solid today. Heres what were looking at at the vine street expressway at eighth street, no problem right here. On some of the city streets you may find slick spots. Earlier in the morning we heard about an icy spot at eighth and local vine so just give an idea to slow it down and be careful. In southwest philadelphia we continue to have that Police Activity woodland avenue and 56th street affecting the trolley shuttle busing between island and 49th and woodland. In stump road near route 313 between that and worthington road could be tickly slippery. As we go outside live trooper road at 422 a construction sign kind of blew over. You can see that right there in the roadway here. They have some cones set up around it so be careful with these strong winds they help dry out the roads but they may be also causing debris on the roads as well, matt. Thanks karen. Developing this morning a driver was shot while behind the wheel in southwest philadelphia and managed to drive himself to a nearby police station. Action News ReporterAnnie Mccormick is live at the 12th Police District with the full story. Annie. Reporter and matt not only did he drive himself but as he pulled up in front of the the 12th district he actually saw a Police Sergeant walking in and told him that he was shot. That Police Sergeant was able to rush him in a Police Cruiser to the hospital of the university of pennsylvania. Well, take a look behind me. You can see that chevy malibu right there. The bullet holes in the drivers side window and also the rear drivers side, that is the vehicle that the victim was driving when he raced up the 212th district with his headlights off. Take a look at this video. This is video from earlier today in front of the 12th district. Of course its still a crime scene at this point that they are holding. What we do know is that the Victim Told Police that he was driving not far from here, not far from this Police District when several shots hit his vehicle. One of those shots hit him in the chest. That is when he then raced to the Police District and heres what else police had to say. We went to the 65 hundred block of pascal street where the shooting supposedly took place. We did find one witness who said that the shots were fired from the 6500 block of pascal street. They said the shooter was last seen in a dark colored or black dodge charger. We have no description of the shooter, just a description of the vehicle. Reporter and not only was that sergeant trying to save his life by driving him as quickly as he could in his Police Cruiser to the hospital of the university of pennsylvania, but he was also trying to get as much information that he could out of the victim. We are told that the victim did lose consciousness on his way. Now, i just checked with police they tell me that the 22yearold victim still remains in surgery and he is still in Critical Condition at this time. And you heard police say at this point they dont have any description on any suspects. They do have a description on a vehicle that a witness did describe at the scene not far from here. Again, that is a late model dodge charger. If you have any information it are urged to contact police. For now reporting live in southwest philadelphia, Annie Mccormick channel6 action news. Its rain and snow are no longer falling but theres still concern for some icy spots on the roads this morning especially in the olde city section of philadelphia. A pipe broke. Water spilled from the building and onto Market Street near front street. The water promptly turned into a sheet of ice. Some of the water even froze onto the face of the building. The Water Department responded to the leak overnight. All right. Lets talk about both kinds of conditions. No kidding. Little bit of patchy ice possible out there anywhere where it didnt totally dry out but as karen rogers has been telling us the wind did a good number drying out a lot of what could have been ice and the main roads look pretty good. Nothing falling from the heavens this morning on storm tracker. As we take a look outside we have mainly clear skies. A little bit of cloud cover trying to sneak up 95. But at the airport things look dry and ready to go. Of course you need a coat and then some this morning. 20 degrees right now philadelphia, 15 in allentown 15 in reading, 16 in trenton. A bunch of 20s in south jersey a couple 21s down by the shore and again its a little breezy and we have wind chills in the Single Digits this morning folks. Theres the cloud cover forming just over the last maybe hour or so but it looks like its thin enough where i think well get a decent amount of sunshine in. Up in allentown its going to be a cold one today as you would expect a high of only 21 degrees. Brisk and cold conditions with wind chills in the Single Digits in the morning and the teens in the afternoon. Down the shore a little better, 34 is your high, mostly sunny but still brisk and cold with wind chills in the mid20s at the best of times this afternoon. And in philadelphia, a high of 29. Overall a lot of sunshine, brisk and cold with winds running northwest at eight to 16 Miles Per Hour. And that again will give you wind chills in the low 20s, even at the best of times this afternoon. And the best of times will be around 2 oclock or so. I think our high of 29 probably hits at 3 oclock and you can see how during the morning it may be kind of bright for the most part but it is also going to be cold with temperature in the teens through 8 or 9 oclock. Now, tomorrow we get a warm front past us off to the north and thats actually going to allow a flow from the south. You can see that with those wind bashes coming up from the south there. 34 degrees is your high tomorrow so well get better in the afternoon. The problem is that we have another cold front out to the west that will sweep through and behind that it will be colder on thursday. And we might even see a morning snow shower. As we take a look at your exclusive accuweather 7day forecast, there we go, were going to see a high today of 29, fair amount of sunshine overall with some occasional sweeps of clouds. But wind chills making it feel like its anywhere from the teens to the low 20s during the afternoon. Not as harsh tomorrow then with that afternoon high of 44 but on thursday, were back to 36. Now, on thursday particularly in the morning theres the chance of a little snow shower coming through perhaps the second half of the rush hour and i could see this putting down a quick coating to maybe an inch or so of snow so maybe that slows you down a little bit on thursday morning. Otherwise, brisk and colder then on friday, 28 and not as harsh again on saturday with a high of 38. Now, on sunday weve got a clipper system coming at us from the west and this is going to produce the possibility of a wintry mix. I could see it starting out as snow perhaps before dawn and then changing to rain during the day and maybe going back and forth between a little sleet, rain and snow in the afternoon. So, thats something well watch out for sunday. Yeah. Okay, thank you david. Its now 6 10. All new here, several attempted lurings have parents on edge in berks county. Well give you details. Most doctors especially pediatricians have been urging parents to vaccinate their children arguing the benefits outweigh the risks and have added that many of the reasons parents are choosing not to vaccinate have not been scientifically proven. A severe allergy to the shot occurs less than once in a million doses and doctors say autism coma and brain damage as a result of the vaccine is so rare its hard to pinpoint immunization as the true cause. New Jersey Governor Chris Christie told reporters he chose to vaccinate his children but qualified that statement by saying parents should have a choice.
