Go. Lets turn to dave murphy were looking at a high risk of rip currents along the jersey shores once again. Its a moderate risk in delaware. There you see the wide view. Lots of sunshine to the west but were still seeing some occasional clouds sweep through because of hermine. Temperatures this morning are warm in most spots. 74 degrees in philadelphia. 73 in millville. 69 degrees in allentown and wilmington and 73 down the shore in cape may. And the humidity is up a little bit. Youre seeing a lot of now low to mid 60s instead of numbers in the 50s on the dewpoint map and that means that we are starting to get moderately humid. Its a little bit worse in areas down south. You can expect the humidity to be a bit more noticeable today. Well go for a partly sunny sky as those clouds from hermine will occasionally be sweeping through. 71 degrees bicep clock. Cool drinks before and after your run this morning and then 78 degrees by 10 00. By noon 84 and this afternoon well be hot with a high of 91 degrees. I expect that to hit rather late in the afternoon say around 4 oclock. It gets even hotter over the next several days matt. Ill have details coming up in the exclusive accuweather 7day. Summer has truly come to an end for students in the Philadelphia School district. Lets go to video from nevinger elementary where teachers unpack new books as part of a multimillion Dollar Campaign to improve literacy. Most of the desks and classrooms sat empty but that will change in matter of hours. School district superintendent dr. William hite says this is the most optimistic hes been since he started here. A large part of that has to do with the funding. The state budget deal was reached over the summer. Philadelphia Public Schools will have about 50 million more in new money this year. Theres new technology, counselors and nurses and other staff have been added to schools that have been steeped in financial crisis in recent years. Dr. Hite says theyre starting to stabilize but theres still more work to be done. Were not where we want to be by any stretch of the map nation. We still need a teacher contract and we are still working very hard to do that but this year its very different than the last several years because for this year were not announcing that were closing something were not announcing that were laying someone off. Reporter coming up a little later on as is action news tradition were going to be waking up a student and tagging along as she gets ready for the first day of school. She doesnt know it yet but we will be surprising her in a little while but well let her sleep for a little longer. We are live in mount airy Katherine Scott channel6 action news. Tam. So, storm tracker6 live double scan we had some sprinkles and showers over on the jersey side of the picture yesterday. Most of thats off the coast at this point. As we take a look outside we are looking at a fair amount of sunshine a little later this morning over the airport and elsewhere around the region. It is going to be hot this afternoon and as you step outside, youll feel that it is moderately humid out there so a little stickier today than yesterday. 74 degrees is your current temperature in philadelphia. Warm in the city. Upper 60s in allentown and wilmington. Just 64 in reading. 70 in trenton, 73 in millville and 73 currently down the shore. Hermine is still active off our coast but weakening at this point so the winds arent as bad. Looks like its going to meander today nearby and then start to pull away on tonight into thursday morning i would say. We still however have issues down the coast with the heavy surf and the rip currents once again because the storm is still sitting there. Future tracker6 shows you that it looks like most of our showers will stay off the coast today. Maybe you see something over by Atlantic City and then later this afternoon and this evening this is the 6 oclock view on this model run, we are on the lookout for some showers and thunderstorms but it looks like most of these are going to dip down to our south and stay out to the west of philadelphia. So, in Western Areas late today and tonight, thats possible. Everybody else stays dry. Lehigh valley sun and clouds today, more humid and a little hotter with a high of 91 degrees. Down the shore, were going for some relief on the beach, 78 degrees, breezy, it will be a little bit more humid down by the water as well. Sun mixing with clouds and of course not a great day to be in the ocean once again because the lifeguards are not as pref length and we still have a high risk of rip currents today up and down the jersey coastline. Could be that down in the delaware beaches its more like a moderate chance but nonetheless, not great to be in the water. 91 is the high today in philadelphia. Sun mixing with clouds. Little bit more humid today than the last couple days and winds out of the north at eight to 16 miles per hour. 73 is the overnight low. Again an evening thunderstorm is possible out to the west. And then tomorrow cold front coming in from the west is going to help turn those winds farther from the south. Well wind up with a high all the way up to 95 which is record territory tomorrow and it will feel like about 100 with that humidity in play. Your exclusive accuweather 7day forecast today 91. Tomorrow 95, near record heat. A possible record tying high of 94 on friday. And 96 on saturday with a thunderstorm at night. All three of these days on the humid side certainly and on the hot side. Now, on sunday you get a morning shower and maybe a thunderstorm rumbling but it looks like we dry in the afternoon. Hopefully in time for the eagles and a high of 88 degrees. Theyre doing water main work each night through the end of october. Speaking of water mains in the city near Oxford Circle had that water main break thats blocking knorr street near somerdale. Somerdale reopened. Nearby a new crash in Montgomery County along latham park at 611. Watch out for emergency crews responding there. Elsewhere near villanova downed tree this morning is blocking montgomery avenue. Thats 320 at stone ridge lane. You can stick with olds gulph road or county line road as some alternates around the 320 blockage and we have some overnight construction out here near pottstown. They were working along 724 between the berks county line and the coventry mall. Should be out of there within the next hour.
