Issues this morning. The first is an air quality alert and this is good across most of the region as you can see. Air quality alert means that those of in you sensitive groups Senior Citizens and young kids and those of you who suffer from heart and lung ailments, you definitely want to make sure that you are indoors or at least not exerting yourself during the times of the afternoon heating between noon and six, thats the worst. We also have an excessive heat warning. It technically doesnt kick in until 11 oclock this morning but it goes until 6 oclock friday. Thats a real indication of how long this excessive heat is going to be around. The National WeatherService Starting this later this morning in the Central Counties especially urban center where is each of the next several days we could see heat index values as high as 100 degrees or close to it. Satellite shows you theres no rain out there right now and mixing with some clouds there could be a little popup shower later this afternoon but generally speaking the Biggest Issue for you is going to be that combination of heat and humidity. 76 degrees in philadelphia currently, 71 in millville, 74 in cape may, 70 in allentown and a heat and humidity will combine right now, weve already got dewpoints up over 70 in philadelphia and wilmington and dover the mid 70s and anywhere youve got 10 numbers near 70 you Start Talking about oppressive humidity and that is what well be socked with today and thursday and friday as well f youre doing a workout today, do it early. 79 degrees by 7 oclock. By as soon as 10 00 youll be up to 88 degrees and by noon weve got the air quality issue along with the heat and humidity. 91 degrees at noon. 94 at 3 oclock and a high of 94 will be right there at 3 oclock. A little bit hotter the next couple of days. Of course we got a day phillies baseball game today. Well have advice for those of you heading out there and matt pelman not pretty weatherwise. Unfortunately were still dealing with septa, too. I think were going to be for a long time. Good morning, david. Yes, here we go with day two of these new enhanced saturday schedules acrosstheboard on all of our Regional Rail lines. Some of them working unsoft a saturday schedule which has a lot less service than the normal weekday schedule and the cynwyd shrine still shuttle busing, no trains running on that line. Yesterday morning some of that you took the rails early made out okay but then by 7 oclock or so we were starting to see delays and overcrowding and some trains were so crowded they had to bypass stations as they got close to philadelphia. Well see what happens this morning but i think you can expect the same thing. I know for some of you the alternates that i have been giving really arent feasibility you live in spots where you cant access the norristown high speedline or the 101, 102 trolleys or the subways but if you can thats going to be a much better bet once again this morning than the Regional Rails. As morning progresses well keep you posted. No overnight construction going the vine. We did have work on 422 eastbound and they still have the off ramp to first of a blocked for the next half hour. And they were working westbound west of pottstown. They had all lanes blocked. I believe those lanes have reopened but were on a new bridge there this morning, the traffic pattern has changed for westbound traffic. Matt. Thank you, matt. Were following breaking news. Action News ReporterAnnie Mccormick is live at east detectives with what we know about this shooting. Annie. Reporter matt, police say that kids and adults were playing in that block when a man opened fire around midnight. They do believe that this is linked to an earlier road rage incident in the same block. Well, this is video from the scene in the 4300 block of north darien street in hunting park. A 13yearold was shot in the leg. Now, around 11 30 a woman pulled up in a car and almost hit those kids and adults who were playing on the block ranging in age from two to 20 years of age. Now, there was an argument between the driver and people on the street. A short time later she returned with a passenger armed with a gun. After the argument that vehicle left south on darien. About five or 10 minutes later, that same vehicle returned to the block, this time with a male in the passenger seat. Septa predicts today will be rougher morning commute than yesterday because more people will be returning to work from their fourth of july vacations. Katherine scott is live at the glenside station in montgomery county. Katherine. Reporter matt, the first train came through here about 10, 15 minutes ago. There were plenty of seats on that one. Of course that can change. Estates general manager said yesterday he believers today could be worse as people return from an extended fourth of july weekend. Near glenside you can see its pretty quiet after that first train rolled through. People are starting to wait for the next one and they dont know exactly when thats going to be. Its quiet now but this is the scene from yesterday evenings commute here in glenside. This train was standing room only, even people stood in between the cars. Yesterday quite a few people showed up to the station unaware that septa was down a third of its Regional Rail fleet due to structural defects. Septa had to down size their schedule and translated into crowded cars, long waits on the platform and delays. In some cases, overcrowded trains had to bypass stations. There was simply no more room. They couldnt even collect tickets it was so crowded. I have no other option. It is what it is. I usually have to wait around 10, 15 minutes but with the new schedule i have to wait here 50 minutes every day on my way to and from work. Reporter and one alternative that few people used yesterday was driving to these large parking lots in south philadelphia and walking to the subway. But whether its driving or using another mode of transportation septa is urging folks to get an alternative. This problem is going to stick around fork weeks. Heat hangs on over the next several days as a ridge of High Pressure builds in, the jet treatment parked well to the north blocking off any relief from cooler or less humid air so look for the highs in the 90s in the next three days. An excessive heat warning in effect all three days. Number of tips while dealing with the heat is number one making sure you dont leave your kids or pets in the car. That heat temperature even as low as 72 outside but certainly up to where were going to be around 96 that can get up to 112 to 136 degrees inside the car and 80 percent of that rise according to Stanford University can come in a hurry.
