Politicians in washington are calling for action as the nfl is promising an internal investigation into whats happened. The former fbi director Robert Muller will lead the investigation trying to find out what, if any knowledge the league had about this video. The nfl commissioner Roger Goodell told cbs news the league never saw that tape but thats been contradicted by a flew report that says a Law Enforcement official sent a dvd to the league. Meanwhile today 16 women senators cents a letter asking commissioner goodell to adopt a zero tolerance policy for domestic violence. Atlantic county prosecutor James Mcclain is facing criticism for allowing rice to enter a pretrial intervention program. The leader of the Atlantic County Womens Center says shes not surprised by the decision. More typically they go through family court or theyll go through Municipal Court and theyll go through a process, there will be a restraining order. Its not usually jail time. Mcclain insists rice did not receive any kind of special treatment. Philadelphia Police Officer is facing charges tonight. Officer Joseph Griffin accused of threatening and assaulting his wife on june 4th insides their home in the northeast. Officer griffin turned himself in to internal affairs earlier today. It was a nice night to enjoy dinner outside in olde city philadelphia. Eyewitness news after third and market tonight where some people were doing just that. Meteorologist kathy orr tells us though our first taste of fall is just around the corner. Kathy. Yes, literally. Were looking at cooler air moving into the region as we speak. On storm scan3 showers well to the south. A cold front is moving through and you can see the cooler air already. In philadelphia 79, allentown 72, the poconos at 62 degrees. If we go a little bit farther west in the keystone state, State College 61, pittsburgh 56 and all this cooler air is moving our way as soon as this front moves on through and it will only be a couple of hours. When we wake up tomorrow morning, 40s in the poconos, 50s to the north and west. Philadelphia 62, 60 in wilmington and 60s to the south and east. Coming up were going to talk about major changes, a swing in the september temperatures. Weekend showers and forecasting some 40s in the seven day. On this september 11th, hundreds gathered in bucks county to remember those killed and celebrate the heroic actions of first responders. Eyewitness news at the garden of reflection in lower makefield tonight. Pendel residents and retired nypd officer artie roma was the key note speaker. His son was killed at the world trade center. He escaped to safety and row lived the moments of danger on that fateful day. Within seconds reality set in and i was i was on the ground and the rumbling stopped. Smoke, debris and dust were everywhere and when i realized i was still alive we all start d to panic. 17 people from bucks county died in the september 11th attack. There were solemn remembrances in several parts of the area today. In philadelphia the day was marked by a special procession and a ceremony to make sure we never forget the lives lost. Reporter members of the Philadelphia Police and fire pipes and drums led a patriotic procession to the betsy ross house where a ceremony to remember those who lost their lives in 9 11 was held. Our country suffered an incredible tragedy which shocked all of us to our core. The day will, of course, forever stand out in our minds. Loved ones and friends and others we did not know who lost their lives will remain forever in our hearts and in our souls. Reporter fire commissioner derek sawyer knew a new york firefighter who died on nine help. He asked people to stand up and say the names of a person they knew. We always say we never forget. If we dont bring them back up well forget. I thought that it was important for everyone to talk about that one person that they knew. Reporter there was a bell sounding memorial and a flag folding ceremony. Members of the Council Rock South High School Band also participated. Its just awesome how it how we took such a terrible incident and it reunited all of us as a country and we came together. Tonight Philadelphia Police are looking for three suspects in connection with a robbery on washington square. Those suspects broke into a home in the 400 block of south jessup street. They got away with a safe containing 20,000 worth of jewelry as well as passports, birth certificates and cash. This happened early in the morning on labor day. If you have any information youre asked to contact Philadelphia Police. Now to delaware where Police Released these sketches today. These are the two kids that investigators believe attacked and robbed a 12yearold with Cerebral Palsy in newark. Police believe the suspects in this case are between 12 and 14 years old. Theyre accused of pushing the victims wheelchair into a storm great and then stealing his house keys. To the tiff that has gone viral. Tonight were hearing from both sides. Lesean mccoy defending his 20cent tip after dining at a restaurant in Northern Liberties for what he calls bad service. The Restaurant Owner is standing by his employee. Reporter well, this is certainly a tale of two very different stories, both lesean mccoy and the pyt Restaurant Owner are speaking outer about this tip that is socially that is now certainly caused a social media frenzy. Business is swift at pyt burger in Northern Liberties days after the restaurant went viral. Now not just known for its burgers but for being the recipient of a 20cent tip from eagles running back lesean mccoy. Weve never had anyone meticulously spell out 00. 20 cents and then add it up correctly and then walk out. Reporter today mccoy broke his silence about why he felt the tiny tip was warranted. I tip on my service, you know, and i think its a difference between good service and bad service or just having a bad day. Its a big difference from just being rude and disrespectful. Reporter tommy ott was there the night mccoy and a group of friends were served. He tells a different story altogether. His reason was some ambivalent request about bad service. It was impeccable service. He sat next to me, sat next to my general manager, sat next to my partner. Reporter hours after the meal he posted the bill and a message about the tip on facebook. That cast his restaurant into the social media spotlight but the most intriguing tweet came from Charlie Sheen. He offered to give the waiter 1,000 but mccoy is sticking with 20 cents. Any restaurant that i go around in philadelphia i tip very well. Im very respectful. Reporter well, certainly folks on different sides of this story tonight, we can tell you that Charlie Sheen apparently has been in touch with the Restaurant Owner. The owner tells us that theyre waiting on a package from sheen with that thousand dollars tip for the waiter. Well, tonight we have some exclusive information about a mysterious skin rash that has been spreading among students at Temple University. Only on Eyewitness News our Health Reporter Stephanie Stahl with more on the condition that has sent dozens in search of medical treatment. Reporter instead of comparing notes, these Temple University students are comparing skin rashes on the back sides of their legs. I have these huge welts down by leg. I think its gross. High a rash that looked like bug bites, some kind of bites, mosquito bites. Reporter their rashes are fading but the students took pictures of what they first looked like, red raised blotches that that were irritating and itchy. Over the last year weve seen approximately 100 to 120 students that presented with this rash to the backs of their legs. Its a contact dermatitis. Reporter they havent been able to identify whats causing the rashes but have been able to determine theyre not bug bites. Some suspect it could be from sitting on benches the cecil b. Moore subway station. Septa has received a few complaints. We did a visual inspection of those benches. We at no time saw any type of infestation. We dont know what happened or what the cause is but, you know, why take any chances. Why not go ahead and address it so we went ahead again, power washed it, did a treatment and then sealed it. It was barricaded off the benches down in the station. Reporter students with rashes have been told to wear pants for now. I wish i knew what the answer was to like why i have all these bumps all over myself. Reporter Temple University tells us most students have been successfully treated. The reactions are minor with no lasting repercussions. Im Stephanie Stahl, cbs3 Eyewitness News. Well, there is also concern tonight that a dangerous respiratory illness is now in our area. We do know that 12 children are hospitalized in delaware right now with what could be enter row virus 68. That is a respiratory illness that sickened more than a thousand people, many of them kids in the midwest. The cdc is working to determine if this is in fact the virus. In the meantime the best defense is to make sure kids are washing their hands. New at 10 00 tonight, seven former players challenging the nfl concussion lawsuit settlement lost their federal court appeal in philadelphia. Under that proposed settlement the nfl would pay at least 765 million to players diagnosis diagnosed with problems linked to concussion. The players called it a lousy deal. They can raise objections at a hearing in november. In south jersey, there is a Football Program thats leading the way to help prevent concussions on the field. As matt rivers shows us tonight the teams approach is not stopping them from winning championships and their parents are thrilled. Reporter from the looks of it the shawnee Freshman Football Team can tackle. And they can take a hit, too. But heres the thing, in practice, they dont do either one. Our practices are different because i can tell you this we never tackle to the ground in practice. Reporter the coach stalked the sidelines for 38 years and for the last five hes focused on decreasing the amount of concussions his players sustain. Less of this, more of using this telling assistants his way kept players on the field. I would say, look, when do you want them . You want them tuesday or friday night cause you cant have them both. Reporter at first, yes, a strange idea but injuries went down and parents caught on. I think they really need to make sure every High School Team is doing the same thing shawnee is doing. According to the Sports Concussion Institute a Football Player has a 75 percent chance of sustaining a concussion and if it does happen that player is three times more likely to sustain another concussion in that same season. Thats because the judge is expected to release the second half of her ruling in this case tomorrow morning. The move raises the possibility the olympian and double amputee could be convicted of culpable homicide. Julys deadly food truck explosion in philadelphia had politicians taking action today. Philadelphia City Council President darryl clark introduced some legislation pushing for Fire Department inspections of food truck propane tanks. This blast in the food truck in feltonville killed a mother and daughter and investigators do believe that a propane leak ignited that trucks grille. Well, you talk about some close cousins. A couple of bundles of joy had people talking at abington hospital tonight. Take a look at jack and owen, the baby boys were born just 22 hours apart. Their mothers are sisters. Bridget bink and her sister Emily Whitaker went through their pregnancies together and when bridget had her baby boy emily visited left the hospital but soon after that her water broke and her bundle of joy arrived. Its been the craziest nine months ever. We had a dual shower and its just been crazy and great. Its like such a miracle times two. We always like hoped for the same sex whatever it was just to make them have that closeness and we didnt we were convinced girl and boy. I was so overwhelmed with happiness. Just made that moment that much more. What fun those boys are going have together. They are the first children for emily and bridget and the first grandchildren, too, for the family. The front swings through within the next couple hours, it will be noticeablely less humid for friday as High Pressure to the north brings in a northerly flow of air, deeply skies, just a really nice day to be outside but just as soon as that moved in friday, a storm system moves in saturday bringing showers especially in the afternoon and an easterly flow and cooler temperatures with some clouds in the 70s. So saturday okay in the morning, not so great in the afternoon. Sunday looks like the better half of the weekend. Sunshine returns. Temperatures in the 70s. A very pleasant day. As far as the humidity is concerned, it will be very pleasant, very comfortable during the day on friday, going up a little bit humid for your saturday and then sunday back to very pleasant conditions. As we take a look at the probability of rain over the next several days through the week, friday no rain, not a chance. No problems.
