Severe thunderstorm watch has been discontinued. We are under the gun for the potential for some stronger storms especially in south jersey over the next few hours and across the areas of central new jersey. So, again, its kind of doing splits across philadelphia. Strong storms heavy rain just to the north and to the south. Well take a couple of trips here into the trenton area. This is a weakening storm, still some Lightning Strikes with pockets of heavy rain. This continues to move to the east so look out parts of Northern Ocean and veg well monmouth county. Heavy rain across northeast philadelphia will continue to move out into burlington county. Stronger storm down south into central delaware. Southern New Castle County to kent county. Small hair possible indicated on radar and lightning and heavy rain extends into salem and cumberland county. That continues to track to the east. Again south jersey for the next few hours has a shot at stronger storms. Through the late night hours into early overnight some scattered strong possibly severe storms. Looks like that Severe Threat has diminished. Could see damaging winds 30 to 40 miles per hour, potential for flooding and frequent lightning which were seeing right now on radar. Once we get this cold front through, changes on the way for the rest of the weekend. Still warm and muggy right now, a lot of humidity out there fueling these showers and storms. Were in the 70s but by tomorrow morning youll wake up with temperatures into the 60s in many spots, even though 60s in the suburbs, up are 60s here in philadelphia. This is iwitness cam video of this fire on the 1800 block of harding avenue. Flames badly damaged that house. Police say no one was home at the time of the Lightning Strike. And new tonight, a Pennsylvania State trooper was injured in a crash in wayne, delaware county. Eyewitness news at matsonford and county line roads. Police say the cruiser was in pursuit when it collided with a car. The officer and the occupant in the other vehicle did suffer some minor injuries. And now the Council Rock High school south Football Team returns to the field and they are playing certainly now with heavy hearts. Down to about 180. Reporter air traffic told the pilot to descend to a lower altitude. Shortly after that the plane went silent. U. S. Air defense scrambled fighter jets to shadow the unresponsive plane they saw the windshield had frosted over and the pilot was slumped over the controls. Conditions consistent with oxygen deprivation. Depending on how fast they descended they were gaining consciousness once aircraft starts descending. Detectives say they broke through the front window of a home on the 1900 block of 19th street this morning. The suspects stole 1,500 from several people inside the home. No arrests have been made just yet. And a 30yearold man is in Critical Condition tonight. He was shot in the chest at 52nd and woodland in kingsessing at about 1 oclock this morning. The victim was transported by a private vehicle to the hospital of the university of pennsylvania. Police are still looking for the gunman in this case. Also tonight, the red cross is helping a family of three displaced by a fire in belmont. Flames ripped through their row home on the 4100 block of ogden street this morning. The fire started at 12 40. It was placed under control in less than 20 minutes. No one was injured and the cause is still under investigation. Volunteers from the 9 11 garden of reflection memorial in bucks county made a very special trip to ground zero today. Eyewitness news was in lower makefield township as they returned from the 9 11 Memorial Museum in new york. Their tour guide was retired nypd officer arnold roma. He was in the south tower when it collapsed. His son keith died in the while conducting rescue operations in the north tower. I firmly believe hes watching out for me and this gives me a place to sit and be calm and to catch your breath and unscramble your head and thats how important this place is and i think most of the families would agree. Each year the garden of reflection memorial picks a theme for the anniversary of 9 11 and this year the theme is heroism rules. Now the funeral for joan rivers will take place tomorrow at a synagogue in new york. This is video of rivers daughter mel his leaving her mothers apartment in new york today. Meteorologist Justin Drabick joins us in judge a few minutes to show us where these storms are heading this minutes to show us where these now in hawaii lava is causing major concern. Septa is the three time defending champion of this contest. And runners they took over the streets of philadelphia for the philly 10k. This was the first year for this particular event and its a different kind of race. Runners made their way through several parts of city from south philadelphia to callowhill and beyond. Organizers say they are just thrilled with the response. Most of the races in philadelphia happen in fairmount park, on the river. Understandably so its a beautiful place to run, a lot of space alot of scenery. As we were thinking about trying to put on some kind of signature event, what made sense to us was something that really navigated through the city, that really told a philly story. Organizers hope to grow this race and make it an annual event. Talk about a deer in headlights. Oh, boy. Look at this. Two deer stopped traffic on san franciscos golden gate bridge. The california Highway Patrol say they were running to the hills on the bridges northbound lanes. The deer made to it their destination without any injuries to themselves or anyone else. Authorities say that was likely because it was rush hour and traffic was already moving very slowly. Some of our storms were dealing with right now may be slowing down traffic in some spots, especially south of philadelphia into central delaware and parts of south jersey right now. Looking better, though, to our west. Some drier air starting to move in. A cold front is approaching. Were sitting in a warm air mass still fueling some stronger thunderstorms. We have thunderstorm activity around the trenton area into southern bucks county. Pockets of very heavy rainfall so there could be some ponding on the roads and again the stronger storm still coming out of delaware over the delaware bay into southern new jersey. This is moving east at about 20 miles per hour. This particular the line right here. So watch out vineland around 10 26 for this storm. Winslow township 10 36. Hammonton 10 48 and late in mullica at 11 12 p. M. This will eventually reach the shore points parts of Cape May County as well. Looks like new jersey under the next few hours will be under the gun for showers and strong thunderstorms. The front has not cleared our region so its still warm and humid. Temperatures well into the 70s, almost still 80 degrees right now at the Atlantic City airport, still very humid but dont worry things are going to change. We have been talking about this. More comfortable conditions return early tomorrow morning. Its easy to pick out where this front is, across central pennsylvania. You get to the other side, look at that, low 60s so that cooler air starts to build in. Our average high 81 degrees but certainly did not feel like that over the past few days. Yesterdays high 89. Today 93 degrees. It felt more like near 100 degrees when you factord in humidity but look whats ahead. Sunday, monday and tuesday little bit more falllike. Temperatures a little below average in the 70s so if youre a fan of the fall weather youre going to enjoy the forecast coming up in the next few days. Front clears the area tomorrow so were back to some sunshine, its dry, nice looking day, upper 70s to near 80 degrees in the warm spots. Cool conditions for monday as well. High pressure will keep us dry. Sunshine and clouds, again temperatures in the 70s. Well watch an area of low pressure track along the front and it may be close enough to the shore points to bring showers but overall temperatures on the cool side. Now through about midnight chance for showers and storms but improving conditions overnight. Well wake up to sunshine especially north of the city sunday morning still some lingering clouds along the shore points early in the day but increasing sunshine even through eastern new jersey by sunday afternoon. Sun and clouds through the day on monday so not a bad start to the work week, into tuesday. Again more clouds could move in depending how close that storm comes to the shore. And again there could be some showers around. These those are the temperatures. Theyll be dropping, upper 70s to near 80 during the day sunday and even monday slightly cooler with more clouds and an easterly wind flow keeping the temperatures a little below average so storms will come to an end overnight, still on the mug get side 67. A comfortable day sunday, partly sunny, cooler with a high only around 80 degrees and of course you got to check out that eagles forecast. Looks great at kickoff, 1 oclock, 77 degrees, north breeze at 10 miles per hour. And if youre hanging out at the jersey shore again some morning clouds, some afternoon sun, temperatures very comfortable in the upper 70s both the air and the water. Heres the extended forecast monday partly sunny, 78. Tuesday there could be a shower especially east of the city mid 70s but the second half of next week looks like we warm it up again, guys, nearly 80 wednesday, mid 80s thursday with a late day shower or storm.
