Visibility at two miles in durham, a half a mile in roxboro, also five mills disability in sanford, and clinton this morning. Your temperatures what a difference 24 hours can make. 57 in raleigh but 61 in clayton, 60 in littleton, and thats why were watching this line of showers thats moving our way for the potential to bring us some strong showers, also the chance for a few storms. 52, heavy rain likely in the Early Morning hours. We dealt with ice yesterday. Today were dealing with the rain. Lets take a look outside from a couple of our traffic cameras. We are seeing some fog and low visibility on nc 147 right now. Definitely make sure if youre hitting the road early that you leave yourself some extra time. Heres another camera i440, you can see the water on the roads reflecting into the headlights. Our traffic map as of right now not showing any major issues on the roads. So thats always good as we start the morning with some foggy continues and also with a little bit of rain in some spots so definitely keep that in mind here. So weve got some fog, low visibility. If youre heading on any of the eastbound loops it will take you about 19 minutes, i40 to capitol boulevard youre looking at 10 minutes. Well have more coming up in just a few minutes. All right. The good news is its not snowing, its raining pretty hard right now. Were on 540 right now in the area of airport and it is downpouring. Were also seeing some fog, were not did see a good amount on 40 just a few minutes ago. The wind is really picking it up. You know if the wind is blowing us around if you drive a smaller lighter car its really going to be moving you back and forth on the road. In terms of the actual Road Conditions were not seeing any black ice, anything left over from yesterdays storm. Most of that seems to have been melted by the rain and the warm temperatures. Its actually 30 degrees warmer right now than it was when we were out here at this time yesterday. However, you want to keep in mind we were seeing some disabled cars, some fenderbenders still parked on the sides of the road. So you want to look out for that when youre driving around especially when the fog rolls in it can cause some visibility issues. Thats what it looks like out here on 540. Well even though the Winter Weather is out of the area the impact on flights could be felt today. Thats right more than 70 flights were cancelled yesterday. Dozens more were delayed. This system is affecting millions of people up and down the east coast. If youre planning to fly out today be sure to check your flight status. Drivers also dealt with travel issues on the roads. Highway patrol says the calls start coming in around 5 30 yesterday morning. At least 50 calls came in throughout the morning there. Troopers say speed and losing control were the major problems. Despite a massive three story Apartment Fire in fayetteville and 911 calls that someone was trapped inside fortunately to one was hurt in the incident. Crews responded last night and investigators believe the fire started on the balcony. Late last night city leaders the Police Department to purchase body cameras. Several Council Members voiced concerns because of a draft policy to keep the videos secret. Several residents said the public should have should have access to body camera footage. We should be able to see whats going on if they dont have anything to hide. The counsel will revisit body cameras next month. Durham mayor bill bell also delivered the annual state of the city address but this years address was different as the mayor held a question and answer style delivery of his speech. The mayor touted the citys progress including new hotels downtown, creating jobs and renovations to city hall. Several Council Members voiced concerns because of a draft policy. Closing arguments will start today for the man accused of murdering hugginsjones. Weather delayed them from starting yesterday. Smith is on trial for her murder in 2013. Now, the defense and prosecution rested on friday. The state used the medical examiner as its last witness. The medical examiner said hugginsjones had 18 different injuries and bled to death during the course of an hour. Right now the mother of a threeyear old who accidentally shot himself last month in robinson county is now dead. And investigators say this man here is responsible. Investigators found the 23year old dead in a wooded area on sunday afternoon. A 27year old is now facing a list of charges. Right now we dont know his relationship with the victim. Today state lawmakers will hold a hearing by the Public Comments that theyve received surrounding redrawing two congressional districts, district 1 and 12 would be redrawn. District 12 is out towards the winstonsalem area. Three federal judges ruled that lawmakers used race as a predominant factor in redrawing the lines of those districts. The costlyness that is going on right now is of your own doing. Problem that did not exist. Let us draw districts without any consideration of race whatsoever. Weve got some heavy downpours moving through the triangle right now but the heaviest stuff is still sitting back to our west right now. Notice the deeper colors on the radar, the orange, yellows, water going to collect on the roads very quickly through this morning. So yesterday we were dealing with an icy morning commute, this morning were going to deal with some heavy rain at least for the next few hours and the heaviest stuff sitting over parts of Chatham County right now. A line just moved through siler city and you on the radar right there. And that water going to collect on morning. But heres the good news once we get rid of this wet weather this morning this is all thanks to a cold front moving in we will see conditions drying out as we head into this afternoon and evening. So things not looking fool bad as we head through the second half of our day today but be prepared for a slow going morning drive and you also may need the umbrella this morning as well. In addition to the rain were dealing with low visibility in some spots due to some fog. Visibility about 2 and a half miles in durham and roxboro, fayetteville about 2 point miles. So we will see the visibilities improving once we get the rain out of here but we are dealing with the wind in addition to the rain. We had a gust over 40 Miles Per Hour in fayetteville, but as of the last openings here 35mile per hour wind gust necessary in dunn, 31 in raleigh. So weve got gusty winds, rain and warm temperatures too. Check those out compared to yesterday a huge change its 57 degrees in raleigh, 56 in durham, its 61 in fayetteville. This time yesterday we were in the 20ses and we were dealing with ice across much of the area. So a completely different story today. Were mixing out all that frozen precipitation even our Northern Counties where temperatures still a little bit cooler were well above freezing and thats where were going to stay today. We will see skies clearing as we head into this afternoon, maybe a stray shower around lunchtime. Temperatures about 60 degrees at lunchtime. Our high today 61 with rain early. So lets break things down on our future cast. And you can see some of the heavier showers moving through early this morning, clearing the area after we get through lunchtime today. Were dry by lunchtime especially across the eastern portions of our viewing area. Maybe a stray shower moving through as we head into early tomorrow morning but i do think the majority of us going to stay dry. So a chance for a few morning showers here. In raleigh 61 degrees today, 60 in durham, 64 in fayetteville. Very warm. As we head throughout the day today and as we head into tomorrow temperatures going to be a little bit cool are but were going to be dry, 56 degrees for your High Temperature for your wednesday, 52 on thursday, we are going to see temperatures staying warm for friday as well. 54 degrees check out your weekend looking absolutely fantastic, 66 degrees on saturday, 64 on sunday. Lets take a look at that morning drive right now because roads could get a little bit tricky here as we have through the next few hours with some of that heavy rain.
