The people they got saved, everybody is out. Reporter a couple of the houses, fire investigators have been able to go in and out of, darlene. Theres a couple here that they cant go into because its jus too dangerous for them. As far as the fire marshal goes, theyre trying to figure out what exactly caused this fire. But it looked like it started in a garage in one of the houses. Happening today, emotional testimony expected at the murder trial of a brooklyn teen charged today in new yorks Tracie Strahan has more. Reporter were expecting to hear from a firefighter and a fire marshal, but were also expecting to hear from the nypd officer who nearly lost her life in the fire that Authorities Say was set intentionally. Officer Rosa Rodriguez nearly lost her life two years ago in that fire on surf avenue in coney island. She was critically injured there, but was released from the ho thspital. Her partner, off er Dennis Guerrero also responded to the fire. Both of them taking the elevator to try to evacuate the building that was overcome by heavy smoke. Thats what happened to them they were unconscious when the doors opened. Guerrero died three days afterwards from his injuries. Int vestigators charged 16yearold Marcel Dockery with endangerment claiming he started the fire by setting a mattress on fire. His lawyers say he was coerced into the confession. Officer guerreros family has come to the court since the proceedings began last week. Back to you. The fight over an elevator has led to the death of a bronx man. A small homemade memorial stands outside the bronx building for 74yearold felix rodriguez. He was discovered yesterday morning in the elevator. He later died at the hospital. She is testifying in the murder trial of the man accuse offend killing her partner. Tracie strahan is in downtown brooklyn. Reporter this all stems from a high rise fire out in coney island, brooklyn two years ago. The emotions certainly still fresh. Today we will hear from officer she will take the stand and talk about the fire that claimed the life of her partner. Officer rodriguez was critically injured as well in that fire. Released from the hospital, but she and her partner, officer Dennis Guerrero were the ones who responded to the fire in an Apartment Building on surf avenue on coney island. Both of them took the elevator up to try to evacuate the building but were overcome by smoke when the doors opened. Officer guerrero died from his injuries three days later. Investigators have ruled that fire was arson and they charged Marcell Dockery, then 16 years old at the time, with murder, arson and reckless endangerment. Dockery allegedly started that fire by setting a mattress on fire. Thats something he confessed to. His attorneys however now say that that confession was coerced. Already three witnesses have taken the stand in the case today, in addition to officer rodriguez we will hear from the fire marshal in this and fire Opening Statements also promised we would be hearing 911 calls where both officers were saying things like they couldnt breathe and they were requesting help in the case. A young boy struck and killed when he darted into the street. 4yearold avery labranch was playing if front of his home in paterson yesterday afternoon. He suddenly ran into the road. In just a few hours emotional testimony expected at the murder trial of a brooklyn teen accused of setting a fire that killed a veteran nypd officer. Reporter in Opening Statements attorneys warned jurors they would likely hear the final phone call, the emergency phone calls from two Police Officers who were trying to get outiof a high rise fire in coney island. One of those officers, Rosa Rodriguez, is expected to take the stand this morning. Rodriguez was critically injured in that highrise fire two years ago on coney island. Guerrero, responded to that fire taking the elevator up the stairspto try and get people out of the building. But they were overcome by smoke when the doors opened. Guerrero who was a sevenyear vet of the nypd died from his injuries three days later. Investigators ruled that fire to be arson and charged Marcell Dockery with arson and reckless endangerment. Reporter an nypd officer nearly killed in that brooklyn high rise fire is expected to take the stand against the teenager accused of setting it. Rosa rodriguez was critically injured two years ago in that fire on surf avenue. She and her partner, Dennis Guerrero, responded to the fire, when they tried to evacuate the building they were overcome by smooth. Guerrero died from his injuries. Investigators ruled that fire to dockery, then 16 years old, with murder, arson and reckless endangerment. He allegedly started that fire by setting a mattress on fire.
