As you mentioned, this is route 112 by jamaica avenue. There are Police Officers around that gas station that you see there. Several Police Officers down the street as well. It is believed and we want to show you this video that this started with Police Officers pulling over a driver here on route 112. Someone took off and shots were fired. It is unsure if a civilian fired the shots or a Police Officer. But two people have been taken to area hospitals. Were waiting to find out who the two people are. If its a Police Officer or a civilian. Theres also a police scene in Middle Island where police may have taken into custody people involved in what happened here in medford. About a half mile stretch of this area, route 112 by jamaica avenue is shut down as Police Investigate what happened. Katherine creag, thank you. A search under way for the hit and run driver who killed a teenager early this morning. Police say a dark van hit a 16yearold at Francis Lewis boulevard and sunrise highway just after midnight. The car never stopped. The teen rushed to the hospital in critical condition. We just got word a short while ago she did not survive. Her name has not been released. Happening today, jury deliberations resume in the case of an nypd officer who shot and killed an unarmed man. Peter liang is charged with manslaughter in the 2014 shooting death of akai gurley. The defense claims the shooting was accidental while prosecutors contend liang acted recklessly. If convicted. Liang could face up to 15 years in prison. Starting next month, detective squads in each of the nypds eight patrol boroughs will be under the command of a new detective chief. This change aiming to consolidate the departments resources while it targets gangs and violent teens. That gangs and teens were involved in more than half of all the shootings in the city last year. New this morning, were getting a look at some coastal flooding on long island. Water is rising on the roads and in yards in babylon. There are roadblocks set up on some streets there. Its a similar situation in sayville. Officials say flooding there has made some street impassable. This morning, already some new jersey commuters due to flooding. Theres a mess out there. Its been a mess for a couple of days. Unfortunately, its going to be cold. This morning, not so bad. Thats toward the end of the week. The coastal flooding, one more round. Not as bad as recent tide. This cycle this morning could lead to some coastal flooding again. Spotty early flurries. Light snow. It should dry out in the midday hours allowing for a break or not better in some parts of the area. Next high tide cycle until midday could lead to minor coastal flooding. The big question debated as i was traveling around manchester and nearby New Hampshire are people coming out to see donald trump because hes a celebrity or because they agree with his political views. The latter seems to be the case. Trump won decisively. The exit poll showing he had support from a candidate who wanted to tell it like it is. They agreed with his stance on immigration, even some did his call for ban on muslims traveling to the united states. It was a different appeal from the second mace finisher. Ohio governor john kasich. We dont wip with anything. We are going to start winning again. Were going to win so much, youre going to be so happy, were going to make america so great again. Thats okay. Darlene, this was a tough blow to governor christie. He invested here. He did over 70 town Hall Meetings and the way he engaged people. He hoped he had turned the corner and hoped for a finish at least in the pack with rubio, cruz and jeb bush. That didnt happen. So now the tough decisions have to be made. Do they go on to South Carolina or does it end here . No decision yet, but theyre looking at their chances right now. Michael, looking on to south move forward. South Carolina Moving into the south, its a different state in so many ways, lots of veterans there. Diverse in other ways than New Hampshire and iowa. On jamaica avenue, some officers are shining flashlights on the ground presumably looking for evidence. This is a large police scene. Blocking off a half mile stretch of route 112. A dark van hit her and kept going. Police have not identified the victim. Also in queens, a woman hospital this morning. Investigators say that the woman fell through the ice at forest park. This was last night. Firefighters pulled her from the frigid water. She was rushed to jamaica hospital in serious but stable condition. The incident is under investigation. Happening today, the Royal Caribbean cruise ship that was hit by giant waves, is expected to head back to bayonne, new jersey. Four people were injured when rough seas forced them to turn the ship around. Passengers are getting full refund and discounts on their next trip ntsb may investigate the decision for them to sail toward the storm. It appears now as its gone on, did rubios repair tour work. It appears it did not. Governor christie, different story. He says theyre going back to new jersey, he and his wife and reconsider. Look at their campaign and see what their chances are. This is a major story. Chris christie invested a lot of he did more than 70 town Hall Meetings, he really had hope for a better outcome. Officers blocked off a half mile stretch of route 112. Its believed it started Police Pulling over a driver here. Someone took off and shots were fired. Its up sure if a civilian fired the shots or a Police Officer. But two people have been taken to area hospitals with minor injuries. Were waiting to find out who the two people are. Theres a police scene in Middle Island on flores lane about six miles away where police may have taken into custody some people involved in what happened at the scene in medford. Police say the 16yearold girl crossing the street near francies lewis boulevard and sunrise highway in rowsdale when she was hit an the driver never stopped. First responders rushed her to jamaica hospital. She did not survive. Police say are looking for a darkcolored van that was last seen heading east on sunrise highway. Happening today, the Royal Caribbean cruise ship that was walloped by high wind and waves is expected to return to bayonne, new jersey. Four people were injured when the ship was forced to turn around. Royal caribbean is giving all passengers full refund and discounts on their next trip. Exclusive video obtained by news 4 shows the suspect Brandon Gonzalez following a woman. As soon as they step out of camera range, police say gonzalez exposed himself and forced the woman to touch him. This happened last week in. Police arrested and charged gonzalez yesterday. Also new this morning, Police Identified the man suspected of attacking a woman on the upper east side. 32yearold Gregory Anderson is the man seen in this video taken after the attack saturday.
