I want to actually show you what it looked like here just a little bit earlier. You can see flames were pouring ouset of these homes here. At least six of them damaged by fire. We re told sd eral of thh homes here are vacant, but at least n peop e lived in one of the homes. When we arrived here at about 3 30 this morning, there were a lot of residents wrapped in red cross blankets. Many of them have gone to find shelter now. One man told us he got a knock on 3 his door just before midnight, warstng him of the fire. It does appear everyone got out safely. We talked to a few people earlier. One who doesnt even live here, but she came to c ck on her niece. Heres what they told us. Just fire coming from the roof. Then the Fire Department trying to stop the house next to it reporter and still, as you can see, a very active scene here. Several injuries. Again, this was a sixalarm fire here. A medical helicopter has crashed in asremote field, killing all four people on board. Authorities say the victims include a nurse, a paramedic, and a patient. But investigators havent yet determined if weather caused the crash. New this morning, police are asking for your help to find a man who tried to rape a woman in east harlem. The worry is that more bricks will come raining down. Now its affecting a neighboring building. The hope is that they will be able to return sunday night, but the problem is the city is worried bricks will continue falling, damaging the nearby 16unit building and someone might get hurt. The Buildings Department has issued a vacate order in the original building from where bricks fell. Inspectors discovered cracks in the remaining facade. Now repair work is under way. Theyre going to mitigate the part that might collapse. Then theyll do a hand demo of thats a very timeconsuming, laborintensive issue we have to deal with. Police say the four people in custody could be responsible for atco least two other robberies. There have been a total of three robberies in or near central today, a jury resumes deliberations at the federal corruption trial of dean skelos and his son adam. They met for ne rly five hours yesterday. One the table, eight counts that include conspiracy, bribery, and extortion. Prosecutors accuse skelos of using vs new York State Senate leadership post to get his son noshow jobs. A fire ripped through several buildings overnight. It happened in the tremont section. Apartments around the scene on valentine avenue. Today in new yorks Lori Bordonaro is there. Reporter and darlene, the fire chief just spoke a few moments ago. He says 85 people have been displaced, 15 of them children. All from this fire. It is now under control. But you can see firefighters here still working to try to keep some of that smoke and flames under control. It was raging out of control a little earlier this morning. Take a look here at our video. This fire broke out at about 11 30 last night on valentine avenue. It went to six alarms. About 200 firefighters responded. This fire impacted about nine homes here, three of them vacant. So many residents who lived here forced out on to the street in the middle of the night. Most of them now getting help from the red cross. The fire chief tells us the building here was made of very combustible material, causing this fire to spread quickly. Heres what he says. That were row frames, three stories, all wood. The fire took advantage of the combustible construction. Pretty much devastated. Right now department of buildings is looking at it possibly for demolition. Reporter he says about six firefighters and three residents were treated for minor injuries. Again, the fire marshal here trying to figure out exactly what caused this fire. The chief says that about 200 firefighters responded to this fire. You can see many of them still out here working this morning. The fire is now under control. It affected this entire row of homes here, about nine homes along valentine avenue. It was raging, as you said, out of control a little earlier this morning. Take a look here at our video from a little bit earlier. You can see what was happening. This fire broke out at about 11 30 last night at 2086 valentine avenue. Some residents say they got a knock on their door telling them to get out, that this building was on fire. Three homes here were vacant, but about 85 people have been displaced. Many of them wrapped in red cross blankets when we arrived here about 3 30 this morning. The fire chief tells us the building was made from very combustible wood and thats why it spread so quickly. The problem is the city isk worried that bricks will continue falling from that original building on 64th street, damaging the nearby building on east 63rd street and someone might get hurt. The Buildings Department has issued a vacate order for that building on east 63rd street in the original building from where a thousand bricks fell.
