When the clouds come in, it wont necessarily be clearing out this morning. That will leave us with afternoon, a lot of that will be focused mainly in southeastern areas as the drier air tries to feed in. All of this is a matter of how quickly matthew continues off shore this evening. What we know, it will be a much cooler day state wide. Were above 60 along the shoreline youll likely back into the 60s this afternoon. Clearer skies tonight and temperatures start to cool off as a Different Air mass moves likely be tuesday and the southeastern areas that havent seen it yet. Instead of the front making progress in the northwestern parts of the state like most of the maps yesterday. We have a flow out of the southwest, all in response to what is left of matthew. Still with top winds of 75 miles per hour, it doesnt have the tropical characteristics, the core of the system where the eyewall used to be. Now closer to a colder system down in the caribbean and atlantic ocean. While we wouldnt get the rainfall, well get some lighter hour activity and it doesnt get here until it moves off shore. Lighter shower activity, weve seen 1 10 of an inch of rain out to the Connecticut River and could see upwards of a third concord to the coast. Not talking about heavy amounts, but any shower activity is welcome, i guess even when it wasnt expected. We have some lighter shower activity even in the North Country this morning, again, you get farther south and east across the state where the extreme drought is in place and we could really use the rainfall. Temperatures in the 50s near 60s, not expecting to go up much today with the clouds and eventual building wind out of the northwest, as you notice brings in much cooler air in and the futurecast, and a lot of this focused in southeastern areas and that pulls away. 30s to lower 40s. The front making its way through, a little later than what we were expecting, in the northern fringes of northward over the last 24 hours. Were not getting technical rain from matthew per se and were not expecting tropical downpours, maybe a third of an inch of rain in spots. Its delayed that front from coming through and clearing skies from holding off from eventually getting through and that means the clouds will linger and there will be scattered showers activity around. Were not expecting a complete washout. I think southeastern areas stands the best chance of seeing more rain than anything else kind of day. Through vermont with the peak foliage there, were looking at the overcast sky. Even in some western and Northern Areas this morning, a lot of this is focused in southeastern spots in the this now not officially a hurricane anymore. Its a post Tropical Cyclone with top winds at hurricane strength. Losing its tropical characteristics of the storm and its like a strong noreaster if you want to look at it that way. More of a gentle light rain and drizzle out there in spots and i think its going to be fairly persistent for the Morning Hours and as we get into the afternoon. A lot of that focused i feeds in from the north and west. Temperatures in the 50s this morning, and all things considered, were just not expecting temperatures to go up all that much today 6789 were talking temperatures to hold in the 50s through the day and the breeze picking up out of the northwest and quite a few more 40s here and i think with the drier skies into the afternoon and far Northern Areas, probably into the low and mid 50s. And temperatures atop mount washington, a sign of the cooler afternoon. Southeastern areas with breaks in the overcast farther back to the north and west, with clearing skies. It will be a pretty good breeze drying things out overnight and lows in the 30s up north and southern spots. Temperatures similar to what well have out there today. 50s to lower 60s, but with full sunshine and that breeze continuing out of the northwest. As that wind lightens later monday night and tuesday, that likely is going to be the temperatures back in the 20s and 30s and sunshine, a fairly quiet week otherwise as we work our way to the end. Week in the 60s for the most part. Today well hold the 50s and along with it, shower activity around. A lot of that after 2 00, 3 00, focused in southeastern areas of the state. 30s to lower 40s to clearing skies. Tomorrow, its 50s to only 60s, that will be with full there. A cold start Tuesday Morning, 60s state wide, wednesday, thursday, friday. Another front will try to come through on thursday and cool us off at the end of the week. You made a passing comment on the top of mount washington. 34 degrees. 34 degrees, with moisture in the air. Are you skirting around the sword, is that what youre doing, mr. Skarupa . You know, in summerville, south carolina, i went to the fire station, hey, jerry, how are you. By yourself. A jam took the fire truck down the roads and are pullings over and out of the way and two or three ladies opened their window and said, get out of the way, theres a fire truck waiting to go by you. Now, meteorologist Kevin Skarupa with your storm watch 9 forecast. Today will be a far different day than yesterday and tomorrow, different than today. We have the northern reaches of what is left with mathews still with top winds of 75 miles per hour. Characteristics. Around here, weve been waiting on a front to come through and the expectation yesterday was that front would come through from northwest to southeast during the Daylight Hours today. You will notice since matthew continues to reach further northward than the track was expected yesterday, we continue to have the clouds kind of held up and that front kind of lingering back to our west for the time being. What this is going to mean for us today is not necessarily any tropic to our south stream lining the clouds. It will serve plenty of clouds out there today and some lighter shower activity, which many could argue pretty much statewide. We could use rainfall. Just that the timing being in the middle of the Holiday Weekend isnt ideal if you have the outdoor plans. Shower activity this morning, the lions share of this, a solid 80 of what were seeing this morning is on the light side. Youll notice a couple of region right now. In the North Country, its drier in far northern and Western Areas of the state this morning and i think that continues to play out for the day, the farther south and east shall the more that the rainfall will hang on through the afternoon. Youll notice the cooler air continuing to invade and sliding south behind matthew as it went up the east coast. So temperatures today will pretty much hold where they are. Were starting off mild enough for this time of year this morning and not that much in the afternoon with a northwesterly breeze. We have the shower activity across a decent part of the state this morning and see how it winds down in the eastern area of the state. The breaks and the overcast are a possibility. And wind will limit those into the valleys. And 30s and 40s. Good deal of sunshine, through the afternoon. Early Tuesday Morning, the likely, the coldest morning, a patchy frost in southeastern areas that havent seen it yet, and mainly fair skies through the bulk of this week and most of the projections have just staying well off shore for the time being. Lingering clouds and mainly lighter activity. And most of it by later this afternoon is focused in southeaste 30s and 40s and a taste of the cooler air that makes its way in. Britains counselgeneral to new england. Nice to have you in new england, thank you very much. Thank you very much, its my pleasure to be here. I always like to say that Great Britain pays more attention to New Hampshire than any other country in the world. Youre a good example of that as was your predecessor, suzie kitchens. Theresa may pledged to divorce from the European Union by next march. Theres some angst from businesses doing business in the u. K. Both in this country and your country. They dont yet know the terms of the separation, but the exit from the eu will be disruptive to doing business. Youre travelling new england to assure businesses that the u. K. Is strong. What are you telling them . A very big political event happened in the. 3 about 3 Million People voted in this referendum and 52 voted to leave the eu. So this has to happen and theres found to be uncertainty. But where theres uncertainty, theres opportunity. As every entrepreneur would tell you. And theresa pay is determined to get the best deal for british business. And the bbc, a few days ago, says that negotiating background or the Battle Ground for can trade freely with europe while putting on migration as well. And you think thats doable . Well, we will be trying to get the best deal possible for the u. K. , what we cant do is explain our negotiating strategy, wouldnt be wise. It wouldnt. But clearly we want a great relationship with european partners, were not leaving europe, were leaving the eu. They will be our trading partners and friends, but we want to control and immigration. Do you think its possible to do both . Thats what theresa may says and ive got every faith in british negotiators to make it happen. Youve been part of that. Trade with young, which is one of your missions here as counselgeneral to new england. The exports of numbers provided to me, 265 million exports from 2015 and puts New Hampshire third in new england behind massachusetts and connecticut for trade with young. Whats the status of that from where you sit as counselgeneral is that on the increase or where is it . Its absolutely on the increase and thats one of the reasons we Pay Attention to new england because the trade relationship is so important. The u. K. Is New Hampshires biggest export market in the eu. And the the world and that means something to us. So we take care to develop and strengthen the links between the u. K. And New Hampshire. The very northern reaches of what is left of matthew, its a cyclone and continues to northward. Were not expecting tropical downpours, its delaying through the front today. The entire system lifts away and fair skies for most of front can present a passing shower, no needed rainfall and thats why even a drink of water out there today. Not a bad thing. Most of the lighter showers by 3 00 or 4 00 this afternoon, will be confined to southeastern areas of the state and then well start dropping later on with clearing skies and cool breeze.
